* ''WesternAnimation/FreakyStories'': While the show featured a wide variety of artstyles, many drew strongly from the styles of Creator/{{UPA}}, Creator/HannaBarbera, and 90s Creator/CartoonNetwork.

* ''WesternAnimation/CloneHigh'' almost looks like it shares the same character designers as ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'' and ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls''. It helps that ''Creator/RoughDraftStudios'', who did the animation for those shows, did animation for Season 1.

Should be in Live-Action TV.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Llanargollen}}'': All of the animals are animated in this style, with any accessories they may be wearing being a darker colored outline.

Added DiffLines:

* Creator/FleischerStudios used this for the bulk of their cartoons house style. It was apparently a holdover from Max Fleischer's years as a newspaper cartoonist.
* The cartoons of Creator/VanBeurenStudios likewise used this, but ditched it around 1934 when Burt Gillett arrived at the studio and overhauled the art direction.
* The films made by Creator/{{UPA}} [[TropeCodifier codified]] the style as we know it today. The studio was revolutionary in its application of modern design to animation, which included bold lines and simple graphic shapes for the characters.
* Creator/HannaBarbera had an appealing style such as this in the late '50s to early '60s. Their resurrection after several years in the wilderness in the '90s led to the renaissance of the style and its increased use in modern animated series. Their earliest shows used this style to show up well on small black and white television sets.
** ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'' (Mainly Seasons 1 and 2, the revival was ran by CNS but the animation was still thick lined, if to a slightly lesser extent)
** ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyBravo''
** ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls1998''
*** The [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls2016 2016 reboot]], however, averts this by using thin outlines.
** ''WesternAnimation/TwoStupidDogs''
* The works of Creator/ButchHartman:
** ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom''
** ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'': Later seasons began to slightly downplay this, though this trope remained in effect until it ended.
** ''WesternAnimation/TUFFPuppy''
* The works of Creator/GenndyTartakovsky:
** ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory''
** ''WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack'' is an inversion; while the show's character designs are very angular and blocky as is typical for the style, the thick lines themselves are absent. In fact, the art style is known for having ''no'' lines.
** ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsCloneWars''
** ''WesternAnimation/SymBionicTitan''
** The ''WesternAnimation/HotelTransylvania'' films used this in the credits. But the films themselves are [[AllCGICartoon entirely in 3D animation]].
** ''WesternAnimation/Primal2019''
* ''WesternAnimation/OneHundredAndOneDalmatiansTheSeries'', more so in the episodes by [[Creator/SunminAnimation Sun Min Co.]], [[Creator/WaltDisneyAnimationUnits Walt Disney Animation (Japan)]], Creator/SunwooEntertainment, and Creator/KokoEnterprises.
* ''WesternAnimation/OneHundredAndOneDalmatianStreet''
* ''WesternAnimation/AlmostNakedAnimals''
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAlvinShow''
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball'' started using moderately thicker outlines [[ArtEvolution in season two]] for most of the [=2D=] characters. All of them pale in comparison to Clare, who has an outline [[http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/theamazingworldofgumball/images/a/a0/1439508703297.jpg approximately five time as thick as anyone else's]]--so thick that [[ExaggeratedTrope a cross-section of her arm would be more outline than body]].
* ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDragonJakeLong'': Season 1 was this.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAngryBeavers''
* ''WesternAnimation/AquaTeenHungerForce'' featured this from time to time, especially in later seasons.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Archer}}''
* While the show, ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'' uses thin outlines, The [[ShowWithinAShow Shows Within a Show]] [[ComicBook/{{Batman}} Dark Bunny]], [[Series/{{Teletubbies}} Love Ducks]], and Alfred utilize this art style.
** In the episode "The Contest", The Brain's story parodies ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'' and Francine and Binky's story parodies ''Wrestling/{{WWE}}''. They both utilize this art style too.
* ''WesternAnimation/AtomicBetty''
* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold''
* ''WesternAnimation/BeanyAndCecil''
* ''WesternAnimation/BestEd''
* ''WesternAnimation/BlastersUniverse'' is an odd variant. The animation of the characters and objects tends to have black bold outlines, but the backgrounds are so heavily vectorized and detailed that they feature no outlines whatsoever, making it seem that they don't match with the actual animation.
* ''WesternAnimation/BlazingDragons'': Season 2 had thick lines (along with some radical changes in character design) that was a sharp contrast to the cleaner look of season 1.
* ''WesternAnimation/BrandyAndMrWhiskers''
* ''WesternAnimation/CampLakebottom''
* ''WesternAnimation/CampLazlo''
* ''WesternAnimation/CaptainFlamingo''
* ''WesternAnimation/CarlSquared''
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Catscratch}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/ChalkZone'' on a few occasions. Creator/SunwooEntertainment did this in the show's second season as a result of [[OffModel inconsistency]]; they switched to the show's thinner outline look in season three, and Creator/ToonzoneEntertainment and Creator/YesonEntertainment gave the show thick outlines during season four (albeit colored instead of black like the show used for the first three seasons). The ''WesternAnimation/OhYeahCartoons'' short "The Amazin' River" had thicker outlines than the rest of the ''[=ChalkZone=]'' shorts (and season one), due to it being storyboard artist Bob Boyle's regular style (he later went on to work on ''The Fairly [=OddParents=]'' and created ''Yin Yang Yo!'' and ''Wow! Wow! Wubbzy'', all three utilizing thick line animation).
* ''WesternAnimation/ChucksChoice''
* ''WesternAnimation/ClangInvasion''
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Clarence}}'', but only in the opening titles, as well as the Fleischer tribute episode "Goldfish Follies".
* ''WesternAnimation/ClassOf3000''
* ''WesternAnimation/ClerksTheAnimatedSeries''
* ''Literature/CliffordTheBigRedDog'' and ''WesternAnimation/CliffordsPuppyDays''
* ''WesternAnimation/CloneHigh'' almost looks like it shares the same character designers as ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'' and ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls''.
* ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor'' started out like this which is mostly used in Season 1, Season 2 has slightly thinner outlines but the lines are still visible, and by season 6, it completely thinned out.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Cyberchase}}'' followed a similar style to the abovementioned ''Blaster's Universe'' during its Nelvana-produced seasons.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Daria}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/DrawnTogether'', with its mishmash of art styles, has internet Flash parody Spanky Ham animated this way. Spanky has ''particularly'' thick lines, but most of the other characters also have outlines similar to those in the page image. The biggest exception is Princess Clara, who parodies the traditional Disney princess animation style with softer outlines ... the outlines are still there, but tend to be of a contrasting color or darker version of the fill (as with Billy's nose in the page image) rather than stark black, making them look softer.
* ''WesternAnimation/DuckDodgers''
* ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales2017''
* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'' has it along with its wobbling animation which makes it unique.
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'': The pre-revival seasons had this. Although the revival did start off with this style, it was gradually phased out. By the middle of the sixth season, it was gone, ''especially'' once Creator/DigitalEMation took care of the animation services.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheEpicTalesOfCaptainUnderpants''
* All of the marine animals from ''WesternAnimation/FishHooks''.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Fillmore}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/GeorgeOfTheJungle2007''
* ''WesternAnimation/GoodVibes''
* ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'', though starting from "A Tale of Two Stans" and onward, the lines started getting thinner.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy'' and its sister show, ''WesternAnimation/EvilConCarne''. Though their later episodes (animated by Digital eMation instead of Rough Draft Korea) use colored outlines instead of black outlines.
* ''WesternAnimation/HomeMovies'' used a very unusual style which had unstable "wiggling" outlines (and in some cases ''no'' outline between certain objects, such as Coach [=McGuirk=]'s yellow collar having no border between it and his red shirt).
* ''WesternAnimation/InvaderZim'' uses this in a few episodes; Zim's antennae are noticeably thicker than usual in them.
* ''WesternAnimation/JacobTwoTwo''
* ''WesternAnimation/JimmyTwoShoes''
* ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyTest'': It was especially noticeable in the traditionally-animated Season 1. When the show switched to UsefulNotes/AdobeFlash in Season 2, the outlines got thinner, but still had a fair amount of thickness during close-ups. For the 2021 revival, the redesigned versions of the characters regained their original outline thickness, but now have colored outlines instead of black outlines.
* The Henry and June shorts on ''WesternAnimation/KaBlam'' (though more often in later seasons)
* ''WesternAnimation/KappaMikey'': Played with, where only Mikey is drawn this way; his Japanese costars have thin outlines and are {{Animesque}}.
* ''WesternAnimation/KickButtowskiSuburbanDaredevil''
* ''Kim'' (2008 series)
* ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible''
* ''WesternAnimation/KingLeonardoAndHisShortSubjects''
* ''WesternAnimation/KingArthursDisasters''
* The scambaiting calls of the scambaiter WebVideo/{{Kitboga}}, adapted into an animated form by G4 featuring this style, as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl-_LBx_tpM seen here]].
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Llanargollen}}'': All of the animals are animated in this style, with any accessories they may be wearing being a darker colored outline.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLooneyTunesShow'': An example using colored outlines instead of black outlines, though the outlines became thin for season 2.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' and its spin-off, ''WesternAnimation/TheCasagrandes''
* ''WesternAnimation/LetsGoLuna''
* ''WesternAnimation/LarryBoyTheCartoonAdventures''
* ''WesternAnimation/LegendsOfChamberlainHeights''
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Maisy}}'' is a prime example of this. Based on simple picture books by Lucy Cousins, the characters and objects are all black lines with generally bright, cheery colors filled in to appeal to the youngest audiences.
* The 2010s series of ''Franchise/MickeyMouse'' shorts.
** The animated portions of the original ''Series/TheMickeyMouseClub'' as well, most notably in the opening sequence.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheMightyB''
* ''[[WesternAnimation/MightyMouse Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures]]''
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Mixels}}'' often uses the thick black style for characters, though some elements of them, such as electricity spikes or ice crystals, are given colored outlines, as are all the backgrounds.
* ''[[Series/MrBean Mr. Bean: The Animated Series]]''
* ''WesternAnimation/TheMrMenShow'' (which was directly influenced by UPA), though only the characters have these. The objects have no outline at all.
* ''WesternAnimation/MuchaLucha''
* ''WesternAnimation/MyGymPartnersAMonkey''
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot'' went out of its way to look like a combination between this or a 1930s animation as much as freakishly possible.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' uses a variation with colored outlines instead of plain black.
** ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyPonyLife'' goes for the more traditional black outlines.
* ''WesternAnimation/MaxAndRuby''
* ''WesternAnimation/MissionHill''
* ''WesternAnimation/MakingFiends''
* ''[[WesternAnimation/MonkieKid Monkie Kid]]''
* ''WesternAnimation/NatureCat''
* ''WesternAnimation/NiHaoKaiLan''
* ''WesternAnimation/NumbChucks''
* ''WesternAnimation/PackagesFromPlanetX''
* ''WesternAnimation/PeepAndTheBigWideWorld'' (both the original Creator/NationalFilmBoardOfCanada shorts and the full series)
* ''WesternAnimation/PeppaPig''. Just like the ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' example above, It uses colored thick outlines instead of plain black outlines.
* ''WesternAnimation/RandyCunninghamNinthGradeNinja''
* Most of Creator/{{Rankin Bass|Productions}}'s holiday specials that were traditionally animated rather than stop-motion feature this:
** ''Cricket On The Hearth''
** ''The First Easter Rabbit''
** ''WesternAnimation/FrostyTheSnowman'' and its first sequel, ''Frosty's Winter Wonderland''.
*** The non-Rankin Bass sequels ''Frosty Returns'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfFrostyTheSnowman'' also have this; albeit, with ''Frosty Returns'' having a ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}}-like artstyle (it was made by Bill Melendez Productions).
** ''WesternAnimation/TwasTheNightBeforeChristmas''
* ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'': Downplayed starting from season 3.
* WesternAnimation/RenAndStimpy uses it from time to time, depending on its animation studio. The episode "Egg Yolkeo/It's a Dog's Life" for example, along with the pilot episode named "Big House Blues".
* WesternAnimation/TheReplacements Season 1 uses this, then it's dropped by season 2.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Robotboy}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/RiseOfTheTeenageMutantNinjaTurtles''
* ''WesternAnimation/SabrinaTheAnimatedSeries''
* ''WesternAnimation/ScaredySquirrel''
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretSaturdays''
* ''WesternAnimation/ShortyMcShortsShorts'' Some of the shorts has this, along with it's intro.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Sidekick}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' had this when the show switched to digital ink and paint, though it went away in the HD episodes.
* ''WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants'' prior to making the switch to HD, especially during seasons 4-8
* ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'' had this during the first half of season one before the animation studio Creator/MercuryFilmworks was changed to Creator/ToonCity, resulting in more thinner looking outlines. Thick lining is still noticeable, though not as much.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Stanley}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/StickinAround''. A little different than what is typical for the style, but still counts.
* The 2003 revival of ''WesternAnimation/StrawberryShortcake'' had this in Season 1, but it went away in Season 2.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Supernoobs}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/TeachersPet'', though only in the Creator/ToonCity episodes.
* ''WesternAnimation/TeamoSupremo''
* ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo'', in comparison to the [[WesternAnimation/TeenTitans original 2003 series]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TimeSquad''
* Any season one episode of ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures'' animated by Creator/WangFilmProductions and--due to inconsistency--Creator/KennedyCartoons.
* ''WesternAnimation/ToddWorld''
* The ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'' franchise. Notably, WordOfGod is that ''WesternAnimation/CloneHigh'' was a major influence on the show and its artstyle.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Trollz}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/TwelveForever''
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Unikitty}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers''
* ''WesternAnimation/WanderOverYonder''
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Wayside}}''
* ''WesternAnimation/WordGirl''
* ''WesternAnimation/WorldOfQuest''
* ''WesternAnimation/WowWowWubbzy''
* ''WesternAnimation/XiaolinShowdown'' and its reboot, ''WesternAnimation/XiaolinChronicles''.
* ''WesternAnimation/XavierRiddleAndTheSecretMuseum''
* ''WesternAnimation/YinYangYo''. Probably due to having a lot of people who worked on ''The Fairly [=OddParents=]'' and ''Total Drama'', including the creator of ''Wow Wow Wubbzy!''.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheZhuZhus''
* ''WesternAnimation/ZipZip''
