The poor guy is SO torn apart over having lost his blanket down the "lost forever hole" that he ends up with a PersonalRaincloud (which rains on him whenever he cries and won't go away unless he feels better). At one point, [[InelegantBlubbering he cries so much he ends up with the hiccups]]. On top of that, every time his friends try to cheer him up, something ''always'' reminds him of his blanket. This is probably one of the only times that Max winds up having to fly solo because of circumstances outside his control, and in the submarine, he winds up becoming disheartened because Emmy is not there by his side. So, Zak and Wheezie give Max a picture of Emmy... only to wind up missing her again later on, after escaping from an octopus.

Before Emmy leaves, he tries to pack some of his things as mementos so that she doesn't forget about Max. The good news is Max isn't asked to help with some big quest, however when he sadly breaks the bad news that Emmy wouldn't be coming to Dragon Land, they're quite disappointed to hear about it. However, the dragons offer to miss Emmy with him rather than let him go it alone, which Max accepts. Max tries to be positive about going it alone again, happy that Emmy might be having a good time at camp. But, it doesn't help his missing her. In fact, it seems to make it worse. So, to get his mind off of missing Emmy, the dragons offer to do some of the things that Emmy might be doing at camp with Max.
