[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:Series wide]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Toy Story]]
* Andy's bookshelf contains a number of books named after WesternAnimation/{{Pixar shorts}}: "Red's Dream", "Tin Toy", and "Knick-Knack".
* The toolbox sitting on top of the crate Woody's trapped in is one from [[Series/HomeImprovement Binford]] [[ActorAllusion Tools]].
* Perpetually-anxious Rex channels the perpetually-anxious [[Film/BackToTheFuture George McFly]] when he says "I just don't think I can take that kind of rejection!" then later "I don't like confrontation!"
* Two to ''Franchise/StarTrek'': After calling Woody "a sad, strange little man", Buzz does the Vulcan salute. The soundtrack album version of "I Will Go Sailing No More" has the line "Never more to sail my ship/''Where no man has gone before''".
* Pizza Planet's entrance is guarded by old-school [[Series/BattlestarGalactica1978 Cylon centurions]]. [[http://pixar.wikia.com/File:Pizzaplanetentrance.jpg Behold!]]
* Both the Alien Slime soda dispenser and the Whack-an-Alien game at Pizza Planet are a reference to the titular monster from the film series ''Franchise/{{Alien}}''.
* When Buzz (excuse me, "Mrs. Nesbitt") is having tea, he says he's "sucking down darjeeling with Marie Antoinette and her little sister." The dolls are both headless, so which is which doesn't matter so much, but this is (potentially) referencing both Marie Antoinette's fate of beheading and [[Series/TheAddamsFamily Wednesday Addams's doll.]] Also, they're taking tea from a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utah_teapot Utah teapot]].
* While trying to escape Sid's house Woody repeatedly calls out, "[[Film/TheWizardOfOz There's no place like home!]]".
* Woody's head [[Film/TheExorcist spinning all the way around]].
** Big Baby doing the same in the third movie.
* In an alternate version of the same scene, Woody says to Sid, "[[Disney/{{Pinocchio}} Gepetto, look! I'm a real boy!]]"
* In the chase scene at the end, you get a quick glance inside the car, and the radio's playing [[Disney/TheLionKing Hakuna Matata]].
* After "Strange Things (Are Happening To Me)", a shark toy pops out of the toybox wearing Woody's hat and says "Look! I'm Woody! Howdy howdy howdy!". A very similar joke--involving a vulture in a cowboy hat--appeared in ''ComicStrip/TheFarSide''.
* When Buzz is running away from the giant globe, the sound effect of the globe rolling is pulled from the boulder in ''Film/RaidersOfTheLostArk''.
* In Sid's House of Terror, the carpet in the hallway matches that of the [[Film/TheShining Overlook Hotel]]. Additionally, his ''Pteranodon'' toy is clearly a ''Film/JurassicPark'' toy with the SerialNumbersFiledOff.
* When Sid is torturing Woody, he quips "We have ways of making you talk," referencing a (misquoted) line from the film ''Film/TheLivesOfABengalLancer'' (1935).
* The way Buzz reacts when Woody opens his space helmet is a nod to the decompression scene from ''[[Film/TotalRecall1990 Total Recall]]''. Additionally, when Buzz scolds Woody for doing this shortly after, he remarks, "My eyeballs could've been sucked from their sockets!", which is exactly what happens to one of the villains in the film when they get exposed to Mars' atmosphere.

Nowhere near "almost identical". The only thing they seem to have in common is the word "hairy." And I think there needs to be more there for the Commando example — did they state it was a reference? That it's a deleted scene makes it even less likely that it's a deliberate Shout Out. And "This is a stick-up!" is a stock line, not necessarily a deliberate shout out. The Shining example is a duplicate. Removing others that are "seems to be" types.

* The overall plot and tone of the series (especially the third film) has more than a glancing similarity to ''WesternAnimation/TheBraveLittleToaster''--the first feature-length film Lasseter and Ranft worked on.

* Scud, Spike's dog, bears a striking resemblance towards the live-action version of Sparky from Tim Burton's ''WesternAnimation/{{Frankenweenie}}'' before he's [[spoiler:reconstructed into the titular creature.]] Burton and John Lasseter are former classmates and close friends.

* The little binocular wind-up toy could be a reference to the same character appearing way back in the cute Creator/{{Disney}} documentary ''[[http://madnessmonster.wordpress.com/2009/07/01/toys-come-from-review/ Where The Toys Come From]]''.

* The way Woody communicates through his speaker box without the string being pulled, and not moving (at the beginning of the backyard scene) is reminiscent of Talky Tina from the ''Series/TwilightZone'' episode "[[Recap/TheTwilightZoneS5E126LivingDoll Living Doll]]".

* The carpet in the upstairs hall in Sid's house looks almost identical to the geometric pattern on the hall carpet the kid rides his tricycle on in ''Film/TheShining.''
* The way One-Eyed Bart (or rather, Andy as One-Eyed Bart) announces his stick up is almost exactly the same as when Jed Jr. sticks up the heroes during the climax of ''Film/MadMaxBeyondThunderdome''. Also, in both cases, it's a little kid heralding an armed robbery for comic effect.
--> '''One-Eyed Bart:''' "This! Is a stick-up! Don't anybody move!"
--> '''Jed Jr.:''' "This! Is a stick-up! Anybody moves, and they're dead meat!"
* In a true sign of the Creator/PixarRegulars wearing their geek badges with pride, Woody smacking Buzz with his disembodied arm is taken from a ''deleted scene'' (something you needed serious nerd cred to reference in 1995) from ''Film/{{Commando}}'' in which John Matrix chopped off a soldier's arm and smacked him with it, saying "Need a hand?"
* With Disney/TheLittleMermaid having come out six years prior, Woody and Buzz's reactions to seeing a dog are almost identical to Ariel and Scuttle's during the Combat Carl destruction and the fireworks jig aboard Prince Eric's ship - even using the word "hairy" in the confusion.
-> Compare...
--> '''Woody:''' "That's why... Sid."
--> '''Buzz:''' "Hmmm... sure is a hairy fellow."
--> '''Woody:''' "No! No, that's Scud, you idiot. ''That''... is Sid."
-> with...
--> '''Ariel:''' "Oh... he's very handsome, isn't he?"
--> '''Scuttle:''' "I don't know. He looks kinda hairy and slobbery to me."
--> '''Ariel:''' "Not ''that one''! The one playing the snarfblatt..."

* ActingForTwo: "Utility Belt Buzz" is also voiced by Tim Allen
* In the opening sequence, listen close and you'll catch at least half a dozen classic sound effects from ''StarWars'', including the Darth Vader breathing, the lightsaber sound, and the blaster sounds from both the X-Wing and TIE Fighter.
** And the LukeIAmYourFather moment between Zurg and Buzz.
* Pay close attention as they flip through the channels and you'll see snippets from several PixarShorts on the TV.
* The toy repairman is Geri from the {{Pixar short|s}} ''Geri's Game'', where he plays a game of chess against himself. While he's repairing Woody the music from the short plays and one of the drawers in his toolbox is filled with chess pieces.
* Rex with "Objects are closer than they appear" in the toy car's rearview mirror in ''Toy Story 2'', to the scene DEAD ON from the [[TyrannosaurusRex T-Rex]] Chase in ''Film/JurassicPark'', HilarityEnsues.
* Potato Head takes off his hat and throws it at the door of [[VillainousGlutton Al's]] apartment building to keep it from closing. Oddjob from ''Film/{{Goldfinger}}'' couldn't have done it better.
* There are WesternAnimation/ABugsLife toys in [[ChekhovsArmoury Al's Toy Barn]].
* Buzz comes across the new line of Buzzes in the toy store, and notes the snazzy utility belt, saying "I'd like to get me one of those," echoing Creator/TimAllen's fixit man character in ''Series/HomeImprovement'' (who often wore a toolbelt).
* Slinky-Dog says "I'm not a smart dog, but I know what roadkill is.", parodying the line "I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is." from ''ForrestGump'', another movie that starred Creator/TomHanks.

* A [[BrainwashedAndCrazy brainwashed]] Buzz's "[[CoolHandLuke spend a night in the box]]" monologue, "the box" being a covered sandbox.
* A plush [[MyNeighborTotoro Totoro]] toy appears as one of [[ShrinkingViolet Bonnie's]] toys in ''Toy Story 3''. (It should be noted that {{Pixar}} has done the English dub of every Miyazaki movie since ''SpiritedAway'', and Lasseter is close friends with Miyazaki himself.)
** Miyazaki is referenced even in the credits with a "special thanks".
* Right before the preschool kids burst into the room, some smaller toys are hiding and quivering under a cabinet, mirroring ''[[PixarShorts Tin Toy]]''
** Many people have made note of the similarity between Big Baby and the terrifying, doll-like baby in "[[PixarShorts Tin Toy]]". They even make the exact same sounds!
* The evil [[CymbalBangingMonkey cymbal monkey]] ''had'' to have been at least partially inspired by ''MerlinsShopOfMysticalWonders''.
* Look quick at the books Andy packs away and you'll spot the title of [[AIArtificialIntelligence another sad movie about a nonhuman who loves his owner unconditionally and went to great lengths to find her again]].
* One of the daycare kids looks just like an older Boo from WesternAnimation/MonstersInc. The first time we see her, she's playing with a blue cat and a sunflower, and says "Boo! No no no! What's the matter?" She's reenacting the scene from WesternAnimation/MonstersInc where Sulley accidentally scared her.
