* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: Less so than Laszlo, Nandor or Guillermo but Nadja also gets into some wacky hijinks.

* RichIdiotWithNoDayJob: VampiresAreRich, but we have no idea how Nandor, Laszlo and Nadja have maintained their wealth over the centuries. They seem to have no interest in making or maintaining their wealth or have any idea how to pay bills or make purchases. In the pilot, Nandor tries to make a purchase at a retail store with an ancient coin before Guillermo intercedes. It's implied that Guillermo does all the money management, but what money is he managing? WordOfGod is most of the bills get taken care of by Colin Robinson's [[ObliquelyObfuscatedOccupation office job]].

Like the film, the show is a {{Mockumentary}} which follows the lives of a group of vampires living together and their antics as they struggle to understand and adapt to the modern mortal world. Instead of taking place in New Zealand, though, the show jumps to Staten Island, New York. There are four vampires: Nandor the Relentless (Creator/KayvanNovak), a former warlord from the UsefulNotes/OttomanEmpire, Nadja of Antipaxos (Natasia Demetriou), a Greek peasant woman, Laszlo Cravensworth (Creator/MattBerry), an English nobleman and Nadja's husband/progeny, and Colin Robinson (Creator/MarkProksch), a [[DayWalkingVampire day-walking]] psychic vampire, all living together in a commune. Assisting them is Guillermo (Creator/HarveyGuillen), Nandor's familiar whom Nandor has promised to turn into a vampire someday. Maybe.

* WhamShot: [[spoiler:Nandor doesn't believe Colin Robinson is dead, as they have pranked him before. Nandor taps Colin Robinson's face, which collapses in on itself, with Nandor's entire hand going through Colin Robinson's face.]]
** And in the next episode, [[spoiler:Laszlo goes into the basement to say his last goodbyes to Colin's body, and discovers that a baby version of Colin has torn itself out of his body.]]

* WhamEpisode: The Season 2 finale is a moderate one, but still significantly changes the paradigm of the series. [[spoiler: Guillermo puts himself as a vampire hunter to the Roommates when he infiltrates the Théâtre des Vampires to rescue them… and massacres every vampire patron in attendance apart from Vladislav]].

* VampireProcreationLimit: In this shows universe, humans bitten and drained by a vampire for food simply die. In order for them to become a vampire, they have to be actively sired by the vampire that bit them. Many familiars to the vampires became a familiar in hopes of one day getting sired by their master (which most never do, despite promising otherwise).

*** The reality renovation show, Go Flip Yourself; along with its host, Bran Daltry that have been making numerous appearances throughout the season [[spoiler: are a convoluted ruse by Simon the Devious to, once again, claim Laszlo’s Witch’s @$$hole Hat for himself]].

Guillermo gives the cash to his family, whereas Nadja - considering how she owns the club in the first place - doesn’t seem to have any motivation beyond [[ForTheEvulz the thrill of it.]]
