* AdaptationDistillation: In the comics, Atillan was initially located in the North Atlantic Ocean at the time of their discovery, until they eventually moved into several places such as the Andes, the Himalayas and eventually the moon. Here, the Inhumans were always based in the moon. In addition, the Alpha Primitives are not their ServantRace, since they were previously established as minions to [[GreaterScopeVillain Alveus]] in ''Series/AgentsOfSHIELD''. Instead, Inhumans with lesser abilities (or none whatsoever) fill their role instead.

* BlackDudeDiesFirst: [[spoiler: Gorgon is the first member of the main cast to die.]]

* {{Expy}}: Let see, we have a highly intelligent {{Adorkable}} blonde, who's awkward and quirkly, who befriends the heroes and even helps out with her knowledge of technology. Are we describing Louise Fisher of this series, or [[Series/{{Arrow}} Felicity Smoak]]? ''Previously TV'' (''Website/TelevisionWithoutPity''-type website and forum) nicknames her "Fauxlicity Smoak."

* SelfMadeOrphan: Black Bolt vaporized his parents using the voice ability which he has.

* OneDegreeOfSeparation: The plot is jump-started by a privately-funded Moon rover smacking into Attilan's invisible walls. Once Gorgon stomps on it and drags it inside, it's revealed to be the latest of over a ''dozen.' [[spoiler:Turns out that Callisto Aerospace -- the company sending the rovers -- has connections with Maximus, who's trying to use it as evidence that humanity is about to discover Attilan]].

** The comic version of Auran has UnusualEars and an odd form of super-hearing.[[note]]She can listen for specific words and pinpoint exactly where they were said.[[/note]] The show gives her a HealingFactor instead.
*** Which sort of makes "Auran" an ArtifactAlias in a way.

* ContrivedCoincidence: The Hawaiian surfer dudes Gorgon befriends just happen to be militant separatists armed with automatic weaponry and guerrilla warfare tactics, to help him take on the Royal Guard.

** In the comics, ComicBook/BlackBolt is a polygamist who had multiple wives, with Medusa being his TopWife. Considering the difficulty the show had on its plate with the eugenics premise alone, this was happily modified to a monogamous and loving marriage between King and Queen.

The series focuses on ComicBook/BlackBolt and the Inhuman royal family, rather the "urban" Inhuman characters featured on its sister show ''Series/AgentsOfSHIELD'', starring Creator/AnsonMount as Blackagar "Black Bolt" Boltagon, king of the Inhumans, Creator/SerindaSwan as ComicBook/{{Medusa}}, queen of the Inhumans and Black Bolt's wife, Creator/KenLeung as Karnak; [[Film/{{Ink}} Eme Ikwuakor]] as Gorgon, Black Bolt's cousin and leader of the Attilan military; [[Series/DanceAcademy Isabelle Cornish]] as Crystal, Medusa's sister; [[WebVideo/StreetFighterAssassinsFist Mike Moh]] as Triton, another of Black Bolt's cousins; [[Film/SoulSurfer Sonya Balmores]] as Auran, head of the Royal Guards of Attilan; and Creator/IwanRheon as Maximus the Mad, the villainous brother of Black Bolt. Additionally, [[Series/{{Californication}} Ellen Woglom]] stars as [[CanonForeigner Louise]], a human scientist who meets the Royals.

** All of the episode titles are the titles of comics featuring the Inhumans.

* AliensSpeakingEnglish: Played straight to American English, though it is yet unknown just how long the Inhumans have been on the moon, so this may yet be [[HandWave hand waved]]. Averted with the sign language Black Bolt and Medusa employ, as they use a language they created themselves instead of the (relatively) young American Sign Language.

* ShoutOut: The two Inhuman siblings that under go Terrigenesis are inspired by two characters from the comics: the buttefly/fairy-winged Iridia could be the [[AlternateCompanyEquivalent MCU version]] of Pixie from ComicBook/XMen, while her precognitive brother Bronaja was inspired by Ulysses in ComicBook/CivilWarII.

* RaceLift: Karnak and Gorgon, who are white in the comics, are played by Creator/KenLeung (Chinese-American) and Eme Ikwuakor (Nigerian-American). Triton is also played by Asian-American martial artist Mike Moh, but it's less noticeable since despite being Black Bolt's cousin, Triton's skin is ''green'' in the comics.

* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: The surfers that rescue Gorgon from drowning don't care that he has hooves, merely commenting that he shouldn't have tried to swim with them. They already know Inhumans exist and don't care that Gorgon is one.
