Various judgements in the 17th century declared that it had had been incompatible with English common law since at least before the Magna Carta.Carta. However, the slave trade (for Britain's overseas colonies) was outlawed in 1807. In 1833 slavery itself was banned in the British Empire.[[/note]]

** The entire UsefulNotes/{{Boudica}} episode is based around the idea that the Romans really captured her alive, but spread the story of her suicide to discredit her. Even leaving aside how utterly pointless this is, both the Iceni and the Romans considered a defeated leader committing suicide to be an honorable death and being captured alive the ultimate humiliation.

* TooDumbToLive: The Muslim boy who goes to to meet the crazy Christian fanatic, Jack alone, in a deserted place, after Jack and friend threatened him and said he wanted to start a holy war with the Muslims. Did I mention that Jack thinks he is a modern day knight and carries a broad sword around with him? Yeah, this meeting goes about as well as you think it does.

** Magwilde dismisses Stonehenge as just a bunch of rocks and ultimately unimpressive compared to things like the pyramids or Petra. Stonehenge is the center of a huge complex that was one of the greatest technical accomplishments of its era and and the stones themselves were likely a gigantic functional lithophone.

* ShockingSwerve: [[Understatement There's quite a few in the show]], but the crowning one is at the very end of the series, and strangely, it's an inversion of a typical plot twist. OK, putting aside everything else, Magwilde has been chasing a sword forged centuries ago from meteorite metal, a sword that an AncientConspiracy has gone to a lot of trouble to find and Creator/AlfredLordTennyson went to a lot of trouble to hide. On being found, the sword is clearly glowing underwater and hasn't degraded despite being underwater for decades. The VillainOfTheWeek grabs the sword - and it's revealed that it's 'just a sword'. No, seriously. And to top it off, it's implied that the villain was some sort of ghost, which makes the reveal that there's nothing special about the sword even more ridiculous.

A show that could be described as ''TimeTeam'' meets ''WakingTheDead'' meets ''IndianaJones'', it involves a bunch of archaeologists who have increasingly ludicrous adventures, usually culminating in the destruction of whatever precious artifact they're after this week.
