On October 26, 2012, it was announced that [[http://kotaku.com/5955278/crisis-at-g4-studios-gaming-shows-will-be-cancelled-source-says G4 was cancelling both X-Play and Attack of the Show!]]. (Like AOTS!, X-Play had recently lost a popular long-time host - Adam Sessler.) Both ended their runs on January 23, 2013.

One of Creator/G4TV's flagship shows, along with ''Series/XPlay'', and one of its highest rated, ''Attack of the Show!'' was a daily variety program where they review the newest technological advances, parody news reports, and give exclusive previews of upcoming and highly anticipated video games, movies and digital media. The show debuted in 2005 as a replacement for ZDTV's (then Creator/TechTV, then [=G4TechTV=], and finally G4) ''The Screen Savers''.

** The final episode brought back the original ''Screen Savers'' hosts, Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton, with the whole show being a dream of Leo's who comments how weird it was with Tech TV being sold and the changes that had (and in reality, did) happen to the network. If that wasn't enough, the last shot closes on them flying on jetpacks to a building still sporting the Tech TV logo. Apparently the staff shared the fans sentiments on missing the old network.

* FullyAbsorbedFinale: The series finale of AOTS paid homage to ''TheScreenSavers'' by revealing the entire show's run was a bad dream of former Screen Savers host Leo Laporte.

* BackForTheFinale: The original two hosts, Leo Laporte and PatrickNorton, appear in the very last scene of the show. [=TechTV=] as a studio gets this as well.
