There are five playable factions in OpenBlue. Three of them are naval forces, once members of a multinational entity known as the [[TheFederation Axifloan Coalition]], but seceded from it thanks to politics and general hatred for each other. This eventually resulted in a war that culminated in a massive naval battle known as the Disaster of Nations. Said battle was aptly [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment disastrous]], and left the three of them with only a fraction of their original naval strength.

The board recently had some downtime thanks to some background work by the administration known as [[OperationBlank Project: Professional Blue]]. Turns out they just moved to a nicer-looking place. Shame nobody's there. So, it went down again [[strike:because the forum service died]] for reworking of key concepts of the RP as well as some experiments to make the whole thing more... you know, active. Unfortunately, that incarnation, known as [[OperationBlank Project: Mini Blue]] never got off the drawing board, so now Open Blue is in its upcoming seventh official reboot, with approximately two community members remaining (who also happen to be two of the founding members of the entire RP) still doggedly determined to see the RP thrive. A novel is also in the works... or more accurately, has been in the works for at least two years now if not longer. [[OverlyLongGag There's a bit of a pattern here.]]

A very small and unfortunately very inactive series of PlayByPostGames, each set in an AlternateContinuity of varying difference from the others. TheVerse itself is somewhat vaguely defined, though it generally seems to be a LowFantasy world similar to Earth set in [[WoodenShipsAndIronMen the mid 1600s to early 1800s]], mostly within a [[FantasyCounterpartCulture Caribbean-ish locale]], with naval superpowers vying for control, and pirates thrown in the middle.
