1, The Simpsons is an adult cartoon, so any instance of mature content can't really qualify as crap past the radar. 2, the show has used the word "damn" many other times, so having Bart say it here during a sketch isn't any different.

In this episode, Abe helps Moe score a date with a woman who enters his bar for roadside assistance, and secretly gives Moe love tips during their fancy dinner--some better than others.

** This wasn't the first episode that gave some of the Springfield recurring characters ADayInTheLimelight; the previous season had the ''[[TheSimpsonsS7E2122ShortFilmsAboutSpringfield 22 Short Films About Springfield]]'' episode, which also served as the pilot for a potential spinoff titled "Tales of Springfield", albeit that one had the series' usual tone and none of the (intentional) bad writing this episode had.

* PoesLaw: Some fans mistook the StylisticSuck throughout the episode for actual bad writing. Creator/MattGroening was worried that fans would react this way. This happened mostly due two reasons:
** This wasn't the first episode that gave some of the Springfield recurring characters ADayInTheLimelight; the previous season had the ''[[TheSimpsonsS7E2122ShortFilmsAboutSpringfield 22 Short Films About Springfield]]'' episode, which also served as the pilot for a potential spinoff titled "Tales of Springfield", albeit that one had the series' usual tone and none of the (intentional) bad writing this episode had.
** Second, as seen in the YMMV page, many of the younger viewers had no idea the shorts were meant to be a parody of existing shows, since, at least in the second and third short's case, were based on decades old works that had very short runs (for a good reason) and thus were pretty obscure. Lisa being replaced by a DumbBlonde teen in the third segment came as particularly baffling to some, not realizing something like that happened in ''Series/TheBradyBunchVarietyHour''.

* AluminiumChristmasTrees: ''The Lovematic Grampa'' is just an over-the-top mocking of silly high-concept TV shows, right? Nope! It's pretty much lifted straight from short-lived 1960s sitcom ''Series/MyMotherTheCar''; writing for that show was Creator/JamesLBrooks' first gig in Hollywood.
