When Paw tries to defend the movie's use of {{Time Skip}}s and LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters by arguing that they were all accurate to the musical, both Critic and Kyle refute that the musical itself is an extremely CompressedAdaptation of Hugo's novels. And with movies usually having shorter runtimes than stage plays (even without taking intermissions into consideration), trying to incorporate all aspects of the musical into the movie only risks a jumbled narrative mess.
