At lunch, the monster arm situation hasn't improved, though Marco's become adept at keeping it away from his lunch tray. Just before they can find a seat, however, Echo Creek's resident bully Lars is seen terrorizing an unfortunate victim but knocking down his lunch, pushing his face into his pudding, and regaling him with his awful (lack of) humour.

The door shuts, and Marco feels awful; he's about to go to apologize to Star when the Monster Arm suddenly grows a mouth and gains a voice, and starts telling him he doesn't need Star; with the Monster Arm, he can do so much more, like beat Jeremy to a pulp, win the heart of Jackie Lynn-Thomas, and ''slaughter all of humanity and '''devour their bowels!''''' Marco is training for a big karate tournament by breaking boards, and harnessing the power of meditation and self-control [[ComicallyMissingThePoint to kick his rival Jeremy's ass.]] When pressed for his reason, he explains that Jeremy is a rich, spoiled brat, his advantage mostly in the form of private classes and top of the line equipment.

Marco then attempts to break three boards stacked together, and only ends up breaking his arm.

Later, Marco mopes in Star's bedroom, his arm in a cast and decorated with well wishes and cartoons from Star. As Star uses her [[MundaneUtility magic to style her hair into pigtails or ponytails,]] he asks her if she could use his magic to heal his arm in time for the tournament.

Star explains that bone healing magic is out of her comfort zone, but for Marco, she's willing to try it, and will consult the Magic Wand's Manual for such a spell. When Marco expresses his disbelief that Star has never read or used the manual for the wand, Star opens it up and reveals it for what it is: a musty, incredibly disorganized tome filled with personal notes from previous users, with little to no effort to organize it.

Starr says it might take her a while to find a spell in the mess, and happens to find a bone healing spell as she's saying it. It's in an ancient language, however, but Star tries it out anyway and blasts Marco's arm!

The spell works! Marco's arm is not broken anymore. It is, however, now a horribly mutated, monstrous tentacle.

Luckily for the two of them, Star knows a counter spell to turn objects and body parts back into arms! As she's never used it before, Marco recommends she practices it on a potted plant first.

Star agrees, and casts the spell! The plant is promptly incinerated, a skull-shaped cloud rising up into the air. Marco quickly leaves Star's room, while Star pulls out a new potted plant from under her shelf and tries again.

Marco is training for a big karate tournament by breaking boards, and harnessing the power of meditation and self-control [[ComicallyMissingThePoint to kick his rival Jeremy's ass.]] When pressed for his reason, he explains that Jeremy is a rich, spoiled brat, his advantage mostly in the form of private classes and top of the line equipment.

As she's never practiced it before, Marco recommends she practices it on a potted plant first.

Star agrees, and casts the spell! The plant is promptly incinerated, a skull-shaped cloud rising up into the air.

Marco leaves Star's room, while Star pulls out a new potted plant from under her shelf and tries again.

The next day starts out rather horrible for Marco: he wakes up and accidentally smacks himself in the face with his slimy monster arm; the arm keeps knocking everything away as he's trying to take a shower, along with turning the water dial all the way to hot, scalding him; and at breakfast, it keeps smacking his cereal away and smashing his glass of orange juice on him.

Star arrives in no better shape; she'd stayed up the whole night practicing the counter-spell to limited success. She promises, however, that she'll figure it out eventually, and the two go to school.

Before Marco can react, the monster arm smacks Lars in the face. At first indignant and violent Lars is quickly beaten up and runs away crying. Marco and his monster arm as regaled as heroes, even earning the attention and praise of the school's most popular girl and Marco's crush, Jackie Lynn-Thomas. His opinion on the monster arm changes dramatically, as does the arm's uncontrollable nature.

Later, Star is seen with a long, long, long line of arm shaped plants, horribly disfigured and nightmarish, until her latest one turns out perfect normal. (It even gives her a thumbs up.) Excited at her first success, she grabs the plant and makes her way to Marco's room to announce the good news!

However, Marco's not as thrilled to hear it. Having gained full control of the monster arm, he now plans to take it to the karate tournament and use it to kick Jamie's butt. When Star mentions that it's cheating, Marco suddenly turns hostile and shoves her out of his room.

The door shuts, and Marco feels awful; he's about to go to apologize to Star when the Monster Arm suddenly grows a mouth and a voice, and starts telling him he doesn't need Star; with the Monster Arm, he can do so much more, like beat Jeremy to a pulp, win the heart of Jackie Lynn-Thomas, and [[spoiler:''slaughter all of humanity and '''devour their bowels!''''']] Uh, it meant, win the karate tournament!

Thus convinced, Marco brings the monster arm to the tournament. His rival, Jamie, comes as expected, and is revealed to be [[spoiler:little more than a spoiled brat of nine years of age.]]

In the stands, Star arrives looking like a zombie. Two other students of Echo Creek voice their concern, and Star explains that she'd been up for two days straight figuring out the counter spell for Marco's monster arm, and had to go to Marco's tournament because he's her best friend, to boot.

The tournament begins, and as expected, Marco effortlessly beats the ever loving daylights out of Jeremy. It's all going according to plan until the monster arm picks up the beaten Jeremy and prepares to devour his bowels. Horrified, Marco tells it to stop. Unfortunately, the monster arm decides it can live without Marco and turns against him!

Marco struggles to subdue the monster arm, all while calling for Star to cast the reverse spell! Unfortunately, Star's finally fallen asleep from her extended research bender; two Echo Creek students frantically try to wake her up. All the while, the monster arm starts wrecking the dojo.

Eventually, Star is woken up, and starts trying to blast the monster arm back to normal! It's too wriggly, however, and ends up dodging most of the blasts, turning almost everything inside the dojo into a human arm. All almost seems lost until Marco gets the idea of using the excessive amount of arms Star's conjured up to hold the monster arm in place for a clear shot.

Star successfully blasts the monster arm, and it slowly starts to turn back to normal, uttering a disturbing warning to Marco:
-->[[spoiler:You can't get rid of me that easily! You can treat the symptoms but you can't cure the disease...]]

Cryptic words aside, Marco's arm is back to normal! And broken.

The referee disqualifies Marco for use of the monster arm, and Jeremy has won the tournament! ... Until a pair of gold, diamond plated knuckles falls out of his glove, and he's disqualified, too. Having brought shame to strip mall dojos everywhere, the two are banished.

Marco worries about the monster arm's parting words, but Star tells him not to worry.
