* CursedWithAwesome: Danar and his engineered comrades have extraordinary abilities, but those abilities kick in automatically when threatened, and they can't turn them off. When their society no longer needs those abilities, they become pariahs.

* LivingIsMoreThanSurviving: Nayrok refuses to bow to the soldiers' demands to return home to Angosia, pointing out that they were programmed to survive, and can do so on Lunar V just fine - better than fine, in fact, because the Angosians have gone to considerable lengths to make the prison there comfortable for its inmates:
-->'''Danar''': To survive is not enough. To simply exist is not enough!\\
'''Troi''': Roga, just tell them what you want.\\
'''Danar''': We want our lives back. We want to come home.

Worf's fight isn't a curb stomp battle to begin with, so Curb Stomp Cushion doesn't apply.

* TheWorfEffect: Roga Danar establishes his danger by stomping on two security personnel and O'Brien at the same time. The trope namer comes into effect in Act 5 when Worf squares off with Roga mano a mano, and yes, this threat is another one that Worf can't solve by punching it. [[CurbstompCushion The effect is mitigated]] because Worf is winning the fight and had briefly outwitted Roga, while Roga takes advantage of a prepared explosion to get the upper hand. It's also averted in the earlier scuffle where Roga despite easily crushing the security team and O'Brien, and also tosses Riker when he and Worf arrive to help, is relatively easily defeated by Worf who drags him to the brig.

* UnderlingWithAnFInPR: When Picard and Troi call out Nayrok for the Angosian government's heartless treatment of the soldiers, Nayrok repeats all his previous platitudes about how the SuperSoldier conditioning is considered to be irreversible, how no one was happy with ''"resettling"'' the soldiers to a PenalColony, ''"but we had to act for the greater good."'' Then his adjutant, Zayner, adds, ''"besides, we may need to use them again someday"'' - effectively admitting that the government never seriously tried to reverse the conditioning. Picard and Troi are about to verbally tear the entire Angosian government a new one, when they are interrupted by Danar and the soldiers storming into the building.

* DamnYouMuscleMemory: The key problem the vets have. They can't turn their SuperSoldier instincts off. They could easily kill someone by mistake if their survival instinct is triggered.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: The Angosians did a bang-up job turning soldiers into unstoppable killing machines, but didn't give any thought to whether or not the soldiers could readjust to civilian society.
** Near the end, there's a rather ugly subversion of this, as it is indicated that there were potential treatments already available after the war's end that might help suppress some of the soldiers' conditioning and allow them to potentially reenter civilian life, but it was never used, in no small part because the Angosians thought that they might need these super soldiers again one day. Of course, [[DoubleSubversion no one considered the possibility that the soldiers would never willingly fight again for the government that had treated them this way.]]
