* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Q is still being written as a largely hostile SufficientlyAdvancedAlien, who here is revealed to be acting out of concern that humanity will someday surpass the Q. It wouldn't be until his next appearance that he evolved into the TricksterMentor that he would act as for the rest of the show's run.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: When Worf blows off the Klingon woman that Riker creates, he says that she is from a world now alien to him. While this is the first, albeit indirect acknowledgement that Worf was raised among humans, future episodes show him to be ''extremely'' proud of his Klingon heritage, and even blowing off the idea of dating any non-Klingon (albeit he'd later backtrack on that). He'd probably still have rejected the woman, but because there'd be no challenge in seducing someone specifically created to please him.

** One of Q's lines implies that the peace between the Klingons and Federation came about as the result of the former suffering a devastating military defeat at the hands of the latter. It would later be established in ''Film/StarTrekVITheUndiscoveredCountry'' that the impetus for peace was the explosion of the Praxis moon rendering it unviable for the Klingons to maintain their military.

I removed the "Early Instalment Weirdness" examples. The first of these had Q saying the Federation had conquered the Klingons. The closest line I could find was Q saying the Federation defeated the Klingons. Arguably later events established that the Federation never really defeated them but the Klingons were forced to accept a peace they didn’t want and given Q would probably call that being defeated (rather than something more polite) I don’t know if that’d count as Early Instalment Weirdness. The others were about Worf refusing to drink with his enemy and about Riker with using his powers with a wave of his hand, both then including justifying edits about how these were actually consistent with what was shown later and establishing they weren’t actually Early Instalment Weirdness.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** Q says that the Klingons have been ''conquered'' by the Federation.
** Worf tosses the drink that Q makes for him, which the latter says is due to the Klingon code saying "drink not with thine enemy." The [[Recap/StarTrekTheNextGenerationS4E26S5E1Redemption "Redemption"]] two-parter would show Klingons more than willing to drink with their enemies.[[note]]But then, it would be shown that Worf follows the rules of Klingon society far more strictly than most Klingons. Even he is aghast to see Klingons drinking with their enemies. A Klingon spy would also refuse to drink with the crew in [[Recap/StarTrekTheNextGenerationS4E21TheDrumhead "The Drumhead"]] for this reason as well.[[/note]]
** Riker uses his Q powers by waving his hands rather than snapping his fingers.[[note]]Of course, Quinn in VOY's "Death Wish" is showing using his powers in a similar way.[[/note]]
