** WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic: In one episode Doug Walker made a list of the 11 best South Park episodes and put "Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants" at #1. He admitted it wasn't the funniest, smartest or best written episode, but "it came at a time when America needed "South Park". Doug explained that after the 9/11 attacks the episode helped to relieve tensions:
-->This is what we needed. We needed a good laugh at the entire thing, and we needed it to be done by South Park. The episode shows the overly secured and paranoid America, waving flags everywhere for support and hiding in their homes feeding their fear by watching the news. (...) Through, per usual, a strange series of events, the boys end up discovering Osama Bin Laden. And the rest of the show is just making him look like the most pathetic ass. Everybody was talking about it the next day. 'Did you see that episode of South Park?' 'Wasn't it hilarious?' 'That was just what I needed.' 'God, I'm glad they're still funny.' There has been jokes made about the state of our country before this episode, other satires and commentaries, but this was the one Americans needed. Uncompromising, unapologetic, not worrying about who they offended, just trying to make people laugh. It was just the right jokes at just the right time delivered by just the right people. Giuliani Then major of New York City showed us we needed to be strong, Letterman showed us we needed to cry, South Park showed us we needed to laugh. I'm not gonna say it changed everything or erased all our fears that we had before, but a good comedian knows the power of laughing and how important it is. It not only makes you feel good, but it can help you out through some of your darkest moments of your life. And in one of America's darkest moments, this helped a great deal. It helped us in only the strange way South Park can help us. By not backing down to anything and just doing what they thought was funny. And whether it was a huge roar or just the tiniest little chuckle, everybody felt their spirits raised a little bit after seeing this episode. It's the best episode because it's the only episode that reminds us that we not only like South Park, but we surprisingly need it.

Despite getting shot in this episode Bin Laden would reappear alive and well in later episodes such as "Cartoon Wars" and "It's A Jersey Thing".

!! This episode provides examples of:
* AffectionateParody: Cartman's confrontation against Osama is a Homage to WarTimeCartoon short of the 1940s.
* AmericaWinsTheWar: Osama is killed in the end.
* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign: Osama speaks complete gibberish.
* BestialityIsDepraved: Osama is more interested in the dromedary Cartman was riding than Cartman in drag.
* BiLingualBonus: The Afghan children speak actual Farsi.
* BorrowedCatchPhrase: Osama's final line "Terrorists are the cwaziest peoples" is a direct reference to the final scene of WesternAnimation/RussianRhapsody, where a defeated Hitler says: "Nazis are the cwaziest peoples.". This comment in return was a reference to 1940s comedian Lew Lehr's line "Monkeys are the cwaziest peoples".
* BrickJoke: When Officer Barbrady is searching students entering the bus, due to the paranoia from 9/11, he confiscates a pair of safety scissors from Cartman. Two episodes later in "The Entity", an Airport Security Guard finds the same type of scissors on Kenny, yells "Die Terrorist!" and shoots Kenny in the head.
* DisproportionateReward: When the Afghan children receive one lousy American dollar for charity in the mail they look up at their city, which has been entirely destroyed by US planes. They look completely beat.
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: Osama is shot through the head in a rather casual, anti-climatic way by one lonely soldier.
* EyePop: Done when Osama spots Cartman in drag upon a dromedary.
* MyCountryTisOfTheeThatISting: Even though UsefulNotes/OsamaBinLaden is ridiculed mercilessly the episode also points out that the Afghan children hate the U.S.A. because the American army bombs their country flat and built their military bases on Muslim holy ground. This leads to an argument between them:
-->Kyle: "Do you really think your civilization is better than ours?! You people play games by killing animals, and oppress women!"
-->Boy in Blue Vest: "It's better than a civilization that spends its time watching millionaires walk down the red carpet at the Emmys!"
-->Stan: "...He's got us there, dude."
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Stevie Nicks is insulted by being frequently confused with a goat. UsefulNotes/OsamaBinLaden really gets his ass kicked in this episode.
* OverlyLongTongue: Osama rolls up his tongue after seeing Cartman in drag seated upon a dromedary.
* PatrioticFervor: In the final scene Stan still puts up a tiny American flag and explains he still likes his country, because:
--> America may have some problems, but it's our home, our team. If you don't want to root for your team, then you should get the hell out of the stadium.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: The episode pokes fun at America post 9/11, including the US-Afghan war. Sharon hasn't stopped watching CNN for months. The children are being forced to wear gas masks and Officer Barbrady takes extreme safety precautions.
* RecognitionFailure: The Afghan goat is mistaken by everybody to be Stevie Nicks, lead singer of Music/FleetwoodMac.
* ShoutOut:

* StuffBlowingUp: Osama's microphone is actually a stick of dynamite, which causes him to explode.
* TakeThat: UsefulNotes/OsamaBinLaden is the ButtMonkey of this episode.
* TeenyWeenie: When Cartman pulls down Osama's pants he is revealed to have a penis so tiny that you need a magnifying glass to see it. Cartman concludes:
--> So THAT's what this is all about!
* UncleSam: Cartman dresses up Bin Laden as Uncle Sam, without the terrorist realizing it.
* WarTimeCartoon: Cartman's battle against Osama Bin Laden is done in the style of WorldWarTwo propaganda cartoons, most notably those of WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes, where Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck would combat UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler.
* WolfWhistle: Done when Osama spots Cartman in drag on a dromedary.
