* RedHerring: There is great deal of intrigue involved with Jarvis' business partner, who obtained Jarvis firm after his death in suspicious circumstances, who quarreled with him the day he died about money then lied about it to the police, and whose granddaughter continues a lie about him being given the firm personally by Jarvis before his death when he actually used that to take the company from Jarvis' family. This turns out to all be misdirection, save for Jarvis' dwindling economic situation being the cause for his suicide.

While in town for a TV interview about her sleuthing exploits, Jessica receives a visit from one of the hotel staff, Mrs. Gloria Wilson. She asks Jessica to re-investigate an old murder case that robbed her husband Sam of thirty years of life and his peace of mind. Eventually, Jessica takes the case and begins to probe into the strange death of Sam's old employer Mr. Jarvis. However, the truth may turn out more complicated and more painful than Jessica anticipated.
