* AdaptationalDumbass: Much is made of how stupid Gohan TakingTheBullet for Vegeta is, Gohan himself pointing out they could have simply revived Vegeta. In the original, Gohan already knew that Shenron can't revive those that have already been revived before and that if Vegeta died it would be for good, giving him a much better reason to take a risk protecting him.

* AchillesHeel: Cell reveals that a single surviving nucleus was all that took to help him regenerate back into his perfect form. Thanks to both Goku's words and Vegeta's useful interference, Gohan launches a Kamehameha strong enough to eliminate Cell, along with said nucleus to make absolutely sure he ''stay'' dead this time.

* IronicEcho: In Part 2, Gohan reveals with a quiet menace that he's not afraid of killing Cell because "There's no point in being afraid of the inevitable." In Part 3, Piccolo tells Gohan not to be afraid of Cell as the latter starts charging his final Kamehameha. An amused Cell agrees, throwing Gohan's line back at him as a way of getting the kid to accept death.

** In Part 2, a random bystander cries "F*ck this city" after others call for another riot the moment the Cell Games broadcast goes dark. When Satan claims victory here, after it is all over, the same bystander says this again in a literal sense, when others call for a celebratory orgy.

Unfortunately Cell gains the upper hand and Gohan is losing until suddenly, Gohan just got telepathic phone call from Goku using King Kai as dial. Then, Goku tells Gohan not only to push even harder, but to give him everything he got even telling his son that he's stronger than himself before encouraging him to "EAT...THAT...HORSE!". And this allows Gohan to push even further but unfortunately Cell unleashes even more power in him and just as he prepares to finish him off, he hit by a beam from Vegeta which distracts him enough for Gohan to unleash his full power and finally destroy Cell once and for all. As Cell lays dying, he reminisce the events that lead to this from his birth while singing "My Way" by Frank Sinatra before meeting his complete and perfect end at the half-Saiyan's hands.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Forgetting that Dragon Balls mean DeathIsCheap and Trunks can be resurrected, Vegeta attacks Cell and winds up injured. Gohan lays into him for this... and then notes he himself got injured protecting Vegeta from a fatal blow that the Dragon Balls could just as easily remedy, the irony of which is far from lost on him.

* AdaptationInducedPlotHole: Cell returns post-regeneration without explanation here. In the original manga and anime he used Instant Transmission, but in this version that requires having eaten sick Yardrats (which Cell obviously had no access to). Episode 10 of WebAnimation/{{HFIL}} lampshades this in a flashback - after Cell regenerates from exploding (and freeing Bojack), he slowly realizes he's in his Perfect form again, and just remarks that he thinks he can teleport, and proceeds to do so. Post-death, Cell then remarks he doesn't know how he learnt how to do it. It is possible that either he learned it on-sight (as with Vegeta earlier on learning how to suddenly track ki) or by copying Goku's DNA, but it's never elaborated on in the episode.

** Many fans were fearful that, due to increasing difficulty in production of the abridged series, this might be the final episode of ''DBZA''. The first clue that they would later announce Season 4 (the Buu saga) was the playing of one of the BGM's of the Buu saga—a somber version of its closing music, ''Bokutachi Wa Tenshi Datta''—while Goku was announcing his decision to stay dead (for now).
*** Unfortunately, all of this was subverted when it was announced that there would, in fact, be no Buu Saga.
