** Some things do actually get a HandWave, like the Dalek's removal of their dependence on static electricity. Others--like non-mutated Daleks going from being called Dals to Kaleds, and pretty much their entire backstory--were merely {{RetCon}}ed away. Said retcons were re-retconned in the 1980s, when the backstory was reworked to include most previous versions--including this one.
