* BavarianFireDrill: Matt gets out of prison by having an Albanian strip the uniform and riot equipment from a guard and escort him out as a civilian caught in the PrisonRiot. Unlike other examples of this trope this is ''not'' presented as easy and they would have never made it without Matt's SuperSenses guiding them.

* InternalReveal: While she suspected it before, now Karen has confirmation by Foggy that Matt really is alive, as Foggy has [[BrokenPedestal no intention of lying for Matt again]].
* IOweYouMyLife: Nadeem tips off Dex that the OPA is investigating him, and Fisk lies about Dex shooting the surrendering Albanians.
* LiesToChildren: Nadeem's superior advises him to tell comforting lies to his son about the danger of his job rather than BrutalHonesty.
* ManipulativeBastard: Fisk, once again. He lies for Dex, claiming that he killed everyone during the convoy raid in self-defense, compliments him one more and diverts his attention to the slanderous way the New York Bulletin is reporting about Dex, all to get closer to controlling the troubled man.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Karen deliberately confronts three gangbangers who are hassling passing women with her gun.

* YouGetMeCoffee: The first thing Supervisory Special Agent Wynn does when he arrives at Fisk's safehouse is send Dex to get a cup of coffee. It's just an excuse to keep him out of the room while Winn does an interview of Fisk regarding Dex's actions during the motorcade attack.

He lies for Dex, claiming that he killed everyone during the convoy raid in self-defense, compliments him one more and diverts his attention to the (to Dex) slanderous way the New York Bulletin is reporting about him, all to get closer to controling the troubled man.

* NotMyDriver: Matt manages to get out of Ryker's and into the cab that brought him there. But just as he recovers from the sedatives, he realizes too late that the driver who brought him there has been replaced with a driver working for Fisk. The assassin bails out and the driverless cab flies into the river.

* YouGetMeCoffee: The first thing Supervisory Special Agent Wynn does when he arrives at Fisk's safehouse is send Dex to get a cup of coffee.

* TheOner: The one-shot take goes beyond just the initial fight scene and keeps going as Matt eventually makes his way to the Albanians, learns everything he needs to know about Fisk, and then they hatch an escape plan - all in one take over 10 minutes! And it's a true one-take (with a few places where the directors put spots for cuts if issues cropped up).

* CrusadingLawyer: Marci encourages Foggy to run for District Attorney. While she doesn't think he can ''win'' this late into the election, it would surely draw attention. And it does, when he convinces Brett to let him give a speech to cops attending a union gathering, who all are quick to throw their support behind Foggy because of their mutual anger over Fisk.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Matt clearly didn't think through that Fisk still owned guards and inmates in the prison.
* EnemyMine: Matt and the Albanian boss Vic make a deal. Vic helps Matt out of prison, in exchange for Matt seeing to Fisk getting incarcerated again, so the Albanians can get their revenge.
* FalseFlagOperation: Turns out the Albanians didn't shank Fisk. He paid a life inmate to do it so he could get an excuse to get out of prison.
