** Matt gets out of a prison in LockDown by having an Albanian strip the uniform and riot equipment from a guard and escort him out as a civilian lawyer caught in the PrisonRiot. Unlike other examples of this trope this is ''not'' presented as easy and they would have never made it without Matt's SuperSenses guiding them.

* CallBack: The entire exchange between Matt and Fisk over the phone has strong vibes of [[Recap/Daredevil2015S1E6Condemned their first conversation]]. Fisk also reminds Matt [[Recap/Daredevil2015S2E10TheManInTheBox of his threat to cut him off from Vanessa]].
* CouldSayItBut: Ray does this, telling Dex "it would be inappropriate" to tell him he's under investigation by [[InternalAffairs the OPR]].
* CrazyPrepared: Fisk has the prison nurse try to inject Matt with a syringe, several prisoners backing him up if he fails, and a couple of corrupt guards ready if Matt escapes them. And in case he somehow escapes a prison in LockDown, the taxi driver has been replaced by another assassin.
* CrusadingLawyer: Marci encourages Foggy to run for District Attorney. While she doesn't think he can ''win'' this late into the election, it would surely draw attention. And it does, when he convinces Brett to let him give a speech to cops attending a union gathering, who all are quick to throw their support behind Foggy because of their mutual anger over Fisk getting house arrest.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Matt clearly didn't think through that Fisk still owned guards and inmates at Ryker's.

* FalseFlagOperation: Turns out the Albanians didn't shank Fisk. He bribed a life inmate named Jasper Evans to do it so he could get an excuse to get out of prison.

** Foggy tells his girlfriend that Matt is alive, though stops short of revealing that he's Daredevil.

** After lying to the OPA to cover for Dex, Fisk gives a MeaningfulLook at the camera after they've left the room.
** Matt gets FiveSecondForeshadowing of the attempt on his life when the CCTV camera in the medical room goes on line. Later he turns to look at it while talking to Fisk on the phone, further confirming to Fisk that he's not 'blind'.
* IOweYouMyLife: Nadeem tips off Dex that the OPR is investigating him, and Fisk lies about Dex shooting the surrendering Albanians--though only with the aim of manipulating Dex in the long term.
* LiesToChildren: Nadeem's superior advises him to use comforting lies to his son about the danger of his job rather than BrutalHonesty.
* ManipulativeBastard: Fisk, once again. He lies for Dex, claiming that he killed everyone during the convoy raid in self-defense, compliments him one more and diverts his attention to the slanderous way the New York Bulletin is presenting this as an FBI bungle, all to get closer to controlling the troubled man. And although not stated, it's quite likely the anonymous tip-off that Dex shot the surrendering Albanians came from Fisk in the first place.

* MythologyGag: Matt ending up in the river in the back of a cab on the orders of Fisk comes from ''ComicBook/BornAgain''.
* NotMyDriver: Matt manages to get out of Rikers and into the cab that brought him there. But just as he recovers from the sedatives, he realizes too late that the driver who brought him there has been replaced with a driver working for Fisk. The assassin bails out and the driverless cab flies into the river.

* PrisonRiot: One occurs while Matt is trying to escape Ryker's.
* StabTheScorpion: After fighting off several prisoners, a GiantMook is able to get the better of Matt and puts a shank to his throat. However he turns out to be working for the Albanian gang boss, who [[EnemyMine wants to know why Fisk's minions are out to kill Matt]].

* TakeFive: The first thing Supervisory Special Agent Wynn does when he arrives at Fisk's safehouse is tell Dex to get himself a cup of coffee. It's an excuse to keep him out of the room while Winn does an interview of Fisk regarding Dex's actions during the motorcade attack, and Dex immediately knows something is up. Later on, Dex uses the same line to get another agent out of the monitor room -- even [[PetTheDog giving him a couple dollars]] -- before Dex confronts Fisk.

* {{Troll}}: [[EnemyEatsYourLunch Dex takes a bite out of Fisk's burger]] solely to see how he reacts. He is a bit disappointed when the man just cuts out the chewed off piece.

* IOweYouMyLife: Nadeem tips off Dex that the OPA is investigating him, and Fisk lies about Dex shooting the surrendering Albanians--though only with the aim of manipulating Dex in the long term.

** Earlier Matt bluffs his way in for a prison visit using Foggy's stolen ID. Unfortunately it doesn't work as Foggy is also on Fisk's hit list.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Already wound up about Fisk, and then finding that Matt is alive and has been hiding the fact for months, Karen deliberately confronts three gangbangers who are hassling passing women with her gun. Fortunately they're more interested in running away.
