* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** The antics from the first and, especially, third movie earned Cobra Kai a lifetime ban. On the other hand, after over three decades none of the current committee members know anything about it at first, with the exception of Daniel, who only knew about their cheating behavior because he fought in those tournaments as a teenager.
** Having the All Valley tournament go on for decades with little change, the committee members have to deal with declining attendance rates as less people are interested in traditional martial arts today than 30 years ago (As opposed to UsefulNotes/MixedMartialArts, with the first UFC not occurring until around the release of ''Film/TheNextKarateKid'').
** Despite having [[TookALevelInBadass taken a level in badass]] thanks to Daniel's training, Robby is unable to defeat Trey and Cruz in his fight with them at [=LaRusso=] Auto, since he's only been learning karate for a few weeks. Robby only escapes being beaten to a pulp because he points out the security camera recording the whole thing.

* JerkassBall: Daniel still votes to ban Cobra Kai after Johnny gives a sincere speech about how he has broken from Kreese's teachings and made his own dojo a haven for bullied outcasts. Plus, Daniel holds a grudge against Johnny for what Kreese, Silver, and Barnes did in the 1985 tournament, even though Johnny was not involved in that at all.

Despite the fact of the lifetime ban, they are willing to allow Johnny to make his case, and turn out to be receptive to his plight, because he had broken ties with Kreese, never had any association with Silver or Barnes (whose antics resulted in the ban to start with), and seemed sincere about being a positive influence on his students. Not to mention that Daniel's seemingly inexplicable vehemence against Johnny, who kept his cool throughout the meeting, only served to make Johnny look more sympathetic to the other committee members.

* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Having cut ties Cobra Kai after Kreese strangled him in the second film, Johnny is completely unaware of what Kreese did with Terry Silver and Mike Barnes during the 1985 All-Valley Tournament that resulted in the dojo's ban. It actually works in his favor, as some of the committee are thankful simply to hear that Johnny's vision for the new Cobra Kai sounds nothing like the 80's era Cobra Kai.

** Robby refuses to let his criminal acquaintances into his place of work to pull off a heist and gets into a fight with them. While he is able to hold them off for a while, they eventually manage to corner him. Like with Miguel, it takes time, practice and physical conditioning to be able to use a martial art in a fight against multiple opponents.

** A more heartwarming example: Miguel's date with Sam goes so well because they show each other respect. It doesn't hurt that the location was a fond childhood memory for Sam, either.

Back at [=LaRusso=], Robby's delinquent friends Trey and Cruz come to him with a proposal. They want Robby to acquire the security code for the dealership so that they can strip the cars for parts to sell. Robby is resistant, but the thugs threaten him with violence if he does not comply. Later that day, Robby secretly records Amanda inputting the security code for the door on his smartphone.
