Trevor joyfully recognises the tree he used to play in as they near the remains of the Belmont estate. It's made clear that his childhood was quite happy... at least until he turned 13 and the church turned on the Belmont family. He's able to open the door to the vault in the ruins of his family home with the help of Alucard and Sypha, and the three of them enter. Sypha and Alucard (who's less than impressed with the collection of vampire skulls on display) quickly go about searching for information, while Trevor joyfully discovers The Morning Star in a chest.

Godbrand takes his complaining to Dracula, and earns a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech for his trouble. Carmilla gets her own flashback, and complains she doesn't wish to be at the behest of another "old and mad" vampire. She suggests that the castle should be moved to Brelia.

We open to yet another flashback, as Hector recalls his childhood and more specifically how his parents (and most other sane human beings) weren't quite comfortable with his hobby of reviving dead pets. A further flashback reveals that he agreed to work for Dracula on the condition that humanity is subject to a cull (with the survivors treated as livestock), instead of a complete genocide.
