* AluminumChristmasTrees: The game Fred was playing, District 51, is based on a real game [[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_51_(1995_video_game) Area 51]], with matching arcade art. However in real life it's an arcade shooter not a fighting game.

* SelfFulfillingProphecy: Played with. Fred doesn't attempts to prevent the prophecy (the bad omens) from happening, he attempts to prove that the bad omens are a load of rubbish to begin with. Because of him TemptingFate in every way he could think of, Mini-Max ends up damaged by water; water messes up his [[MoralityDial personality chip]] so he turns evil and arranges a series of "accidents" for Fred. So, Fred's attempts to disprove the prophecy fulfill it.

Actually, this is pure speculation. My bad.

** Though it is possible that Chief Cruz's colleagues don't share his InspectorJavert attitude and throw the investigation.

* PoliceAreUseless: A 14 year old girl seems to be a better detective than the police's best detectives. What she was able to find out at the end of the episode, major hot spots where Big Hero 6 have been spotted, would be considered the bare basic one would do when trying to find someone.

!!Tropes in this episode:
* BusFullOfInnocents: A runaway street train nearly smashes into a bus full of children, narrowly being stopped by Hiro and Baymax.
* MoralityDial: Getting shorted out by water swaps Mini-Max from good to evil.
* OffscreenVillainDarkMatter: Mini-Max turns evil because of a short, and in less than a day manages to piece together his own (adorable) evil costume complete with cape, and rigs up a magnet trap to pin Baymax.
* OverprotectiveDad: Chief Cruz is constantly butting in on Megan and Hiro, among other things reminding them that they're not at dating age.
* TemptingFate: Fred runs through a gauntlet of bad luck cliches in order to prove to Wasabi that his paranoia is unfounded. It ends up setting off a DisasterDominoes that shorts out Mini-Max and sets the plot in motion.
