* LackOfEmpathy: Historia’s mother ignored her, rejected her attempts to form a loving mother-daughter bond, violently threw her off her when she tried to hug her, broke her nose and even said she wished she’d killed her when she was born. Historia was a little girl at the time. She also knows that the council wants to kill Historia too but all she’s concerned about is that SHE will be killed by them too.
* MamaBear: Averted hard with Historia’s mother. She HATES her daughter and wants nothing to do with her because her existence, as an illegitimate child of the Reiss’, puts HER in danger. In fact when the interior corps come to kill them both she frantically tries to deny being Historia’s mother, happy to let her daughter die so she can live.

* ParentalNeglect: Historia's mother, and ''how''. She only spoke to Historia twice in her life, both times wishing that she wasn’t alive. Historia tried to hug her once, and she threw her away so hard she broke her nose.

* AMistakeIsBorn: Historia was born from an affair between the true king of the walls and one of his servants during an affair. Her father refused to acknowledge her for the shame the reveal of his afair would bring him, the council would want her and her mother dead if they found out about her as a result, and as a result of that (plus her loosing her comfy life serving in the palace and being sent back to her parents farm) caused Historia’s mother to resent having her and want her dead. Even her maternal grandparents didn’t think much of her since they only interacted with her when working.

* NeverMyFault: Historia’s mother blames her situation on Historia. Even though she’s the one who entered a relationship with Rod.

Added DiffLines:

* ResentfulGuardian: Even Historia’s grandparents, who did far more to raise Historia’s than her mother did (only by co parison since Alma did literally nothing) didn’t really care about her for the “trouble” she brought them. They only talked to her to teach her how to work, nothing more.

* DesperatelyCravesAffection: Historia was actually HAPPY when her mother assaulted her because it was the first time she ever touched her. What’s even more heartbreaking is that it happened because Historia tried to hug her, and she instead did a belly flip on her legs, showing his little about affection she actually knows.

* ItsAllAboutMe: In a truly horrific and heartbreaking way, Historia’s mother doesn’t care at all that Historia is in danger too, just that SHE also is. Her final words are that she regrets having her and even admitted to having considered killing her when she was born to save herself.

Added DiffLines:

* AngerBornOfWorry: Underneath all of Historia’s mothers aloofness and outright hatred for Historia, it’s mostly because she’s absolutely terrified of dying at the hands of the council for having birthed an illegitimate Reiss child.
* AbusiveParents: While Historia’s mother mostly just avoided her, her reaction to her young daughter trying to hug her was to throw her off her, so hard it broke her nose, then tearfully voice her regrets over not killing her after she was born.

Added DiffLines:

* DirtyCoward: Historia’s mother is more than willing to allow her daughter to die rather than Historia AND herself. She even tearfully states her regret over not killing her as a baby to save herself, ironically she says it’s because she didn’t have the courage to do so.
* DyingDeclarationOfHate: Historia’s mothers final words, as well as the second thing she ever spoke to Historia in her daughters entire life, was to spitefully express regret over having her so she wouldn’t be dying now.

Added DiffLines:

* TheResenter: Historia’s own mother hates her because her birth 1) took away her life as a maid in the Reiss household, sent her back to her parents farm and likely ruined her reputation branding her as a “whore” and 2) because it put a mark on her head if the council found out about her affair. The only two times she ever spoke to Historia’s were to say how much she either regrets not killing hers when she was born or having her. The later of which were her dying words.

Added DiffLines:

* WouldHurtAChild: Historia’s mother threw her daughter off her, after she gave her a hug, so hard it broke her nose. All she could do was express regret that she didn’t KILL her when she was born.

Added DiffLines:

Historia recounts her tragic childhood and her parentage: the true royal family Reiss. Hange pieces together how Titan powers work and that Eren will be eaten for his. Erwin recounts his own background and motivation to Pixis as he plots to overthrow the government. Erwin is framed for the murder of Dimo Reeves and most of the Survey Corps are arrested. Levi and co. plan how to travel unnoticed and reach Eren.

* AnachronicOrder: The episode begins with Historia telling Squad Levi and Hange about her past, which based on a still frame from the previous episode occurred prior to Erwin being arrested.
* HeKnowsTooMuch: Erwin's father meets an "unfortunate accident" for having a theory that goes against the public narrative.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: The Survey Corp's reputation is lower than ever now that they are accused of murder.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Young Erwin inadvertently causes his father's arrest and death for saying too much.
* ParentalNeglect: Historia's mother, and ''how''.
* PuppetKing: Erwin's plan revolves around deposing the current figurehead king and crowning Historia as nominal monarch.
* ThePurge: Non-lethal version. Reeves' death is used as a pretext to frame Erwin and arrest all remaining Scouts.
* SlashedThroat: Historia's mother's fate.
* {{Unperson}}: Kenny coldly tells Historia's mother that she never existed before killing her.
* YouAreInCommandNow: Anticipating imprisonment (or worse), Erwin appoints Hange to be his successor.
