* In the [=1960s=], Sir Topham Hatt II discovered that the trackbeds of the abandoned Mid-Sodor Railway were shockingly weed-free because they used spoils from the lead mines as ballast. The controllers of Sodor's various railways teamed up to create the miniature-gauge Arlesdale Railway to transport ballast from the mines, and purchased three engines from England whose railway had closed down. [[ExpyCoexistence By sheer cosmic coincidence]], they look very similar to ones on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. Several engines have mistaken them for magical beings. The Arlesdale Railway also transports wool and passengers, and in its first year of operation, a pair of clergymen visited. One of them was the Reverend Wilbert Awdry, [[DirectLineToTheAuthor wrote about the Arlesdale Railway in his series of books about Sodor.]]
** Rex, who's green, is the ''de facto'' leader. He's the most level-headed and usually introduces the group to other engines. However, he's not above teasing the others, especially Mike. He can also be overconfident, such as when he boasted that transporting wool would be easy, only to crash into a pile of wool bales and derail. Fortunately, [[SquareCubeLaw it didn't damage him too much]], and the incident taught them that they need to work together.
** Mike used to be green like Rex, but now he's as red as his temper. He's always complaining about minor inconveniences, such as livestock on the line. He's very proud of his whistle and hates being belittled the most. Unlike most engines on Sodor, he prefers goods to passengers.
** Bert is blue and the oldest of the three... but not the wisest. When he heard that the visiting clergymen take moving pictures and write books, he thought he was going to be turned into a moving picture in a book. He's petty and has a vengeful streak; when the clergymen accidentally splashed him with mud, Bert got revenge by splashing one of them with rainwater. He forgave them after they cleaned him up, though, and much later, he helped them find Duke, an engine from the Mid-Sodor Railway who'd been buried in a landslide.
* When ''The Railway Series'' was adapted into ''Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends'', the creators were contractually obliged to only create episodes that were adaptations of the books at first, but AdaptationDrift kicked in during season 3. After Wilbert Awdry died in 1997, they decided to ditch the source material for good, leaving the Arlesdale trio unadapted. That was, until 2015, when they made a surprise appearance in the special ''WesternAnimation/SodorsLegendOfTheLostTreasure''. Three chapters of their debut book, ''Small Railway Engines'', were subsequently adapted into episodes in season 20.
* The trio were happy to learn that Thomas the Tank Engine was in the Pantheon after they ascended. They'd previously helped him stop a pirate, and he introduced them to the rest of the Steam Team. Their meeting with the Pantheon's other engines was... a little more complicated. Peter Sam was happy to learn about what became of his old home, while Sir Handel was just glad to finally meet engines he could look down upon. Bert, meanwhile, was annoyed to learn that Skarloey was the engine the rescuers took to find Duke in ''Thomas & Friends'' instead of him. Skarloey had no idea what he was talking about. There's one thing all engines can agree on, though: they hate P.T. Boomer. When threatened Rex, Mike, and Bert, they dumped a truckload of ballast on him.
* The trio have met some of the Pantheon's most... interesting {{Rail Enthusiast}}s. The ''Pteranodon'' children were ecstatic, as always, to meet more engines in the Pantheon, especially Tiny. Mike was insulted when she gushed about how small they were, until Mrs. ''Pteranodon'' explained it was a ''compliment''. Tiny is friends with all sorts of small creatures, and likes to cheer about their "tiny power". Mike still finds her annoying, but the other two find her endearing. Bendy is also a big fan of trains, but they find his perpetual grin and demonic forms off-putting.
* The trio are wary of pirates thanks to their experience with Sailor John, and the Straw Hats were no exception. When they learned that they're more interested in adventuring and rebelling against the oppressive government than theft and threatening people with dynamite, though, they became friends. They've heard about [[Pantheon/LandAndSeaTravel Franky's]] idea to build underwater train tracks... and don't have the heart to tell him that probably won't work. At least, Rex and Bert didn't.
* They sympathise with the Porygon line, another trio of hithero-AdaptedOut characters. While the Smallies eventually got their time in the limelight, though, the Porygon line were reduced to blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameos. They would've become partners, but the Smallies couldn't agree upon who'd get who. And, y'know, they don't have hands to hold Poké Balls with.
* Exclusive to Rex:
** Rex usually delivers Christmas presents to the local villages, which caught the attention of the Pantheon's various Santa figures. He didn't believe any of them were the real deal, however, until he encountered Nicholas St. North. Rex was annoyed that North assumed the talking engines were magical beings, and thought all this "guardian of childhood" stuff was a load of nonsense. That was, until North used one of his teleportation snowglobes to open a portal to his office, and returned with some of his moving, miniature ice sculptures. Rex was speechless.
* Exclusive to Mike:
** Mike hates Dawn Bellweather. Not because of her plan to turn prey against predators, but because he thinks sheep are stupid and do nothing but get in the way. He hates cattle even more, such as Otis and Miltank, because they remind him of an embarrassing incident where he lost his whistle while trying to scare a cow off his line.
** Mike has a surprising amount in common with Edward Elric. They're both as short as their tempers -- but don't say that to their faces! -- and wear red, a strong, masculine colour that gets the blood pumping. Once upon a time, Ed would've found it weird that he related so much to a talking train, but after years of being in the Pantheon, "normal" loses all its meaning. It helps that they're both from the quiet countryside.
* Exclusive to Bert:
** After his meeting with Skarloey, Bert became very confused. He simultaneously remembered being the engine who took the rescuers to Duke, and having no idea who Duke was. Wilbert Awdry based ''The Railway Series'' on real events on Sodor, and later it was adapted into ''Thomas & Friends'', right? Yet he appears in ''Thomas & Friends'' [[MutuallyFictional as an author who writes books based on THOSE versions of events]]. And above all this is the "real world", where trains don't talk and there's an Isle of Walney instead of Sodor. This was all too much for Bert's non-existent brain to handle, so he spent all night in his shed processing it. He eventually sought advice from another god who went through a similar experience: Lenna. When she ascended, she gained memories of three different timelines, and she'd previously spoken to her creator, Tom, over the phone. Her advice? "Don't worry about it," which wasn't very helpful.

** [[Pantheon/NarrativeActions The Original Dracula]] and the [[Pantheon/{{Undead}} Lord of Castlevania]] may have been the closest to align with regarding Morgan, though relations with the former was contentious as the original Dracula, despite his ferocity, didn't really stick out compared to the others and his magical talents, while good enough, was lacking in comparison. The Lord of Castlevania, on the other hand, was motivated by love and hate, albeit rather than jealousy and need, was grief and rage. Morgan found him the easiest to associate and work with and the Lord of Castlevania sees Morgan as a good ally to work with if it means battling against his adversaries. That said, Morgan does stay wary of her new ally's might and prowess as the Lord of Castlevania is a ''Demonic Vampire'' whose strength at full power is enough to destroy the world if left unchecked.

* Knowing that the Malfested are a dire threat to humanity, Zasalamel is staunch allies with Grøh and Hilde and isn't afraid of fighting alongside them when given the chance. That said, Nightmare's influence in the Pantheon has been noted to be greater than from his homeworld. He speculates that this may have something to do with the nature and presence of other great evils such as [[Pantheon/{{Villainy}} Melkor]] and [[Pantheon/{{Undead}} Nekron]]. He spends much of his time delving into as much research as he could in the hopes of find a means to permanently stop the Malfested's presence. Though so long as Nightmare and Soul Edge are still around, it's going to be a tough fight.
