The lights go off, and suddenly lightning flashes above to illuminate A ROTTEN CORPSE HANGING FROM THE RAFTERS. And then a loud scream, and the sound of bones hitting a floor and breaking. Ughhh...
* This tropette is unsure what happened when the lights went out on her tour of the haunted mansion, when she was nine years old. She was with her father, mother, and brother. Her brother and father were on the other side of the room, and she was standing with her mother. When the lights went out, some jerkasses must have had the collective idea to reach out and grab whoever was close to them. Guess who was a lucky winner. (Her mother was on her other side, and is not the type to joke around, and her father and brother were on the other side of the room, so some random stranger had the bright idea to scare a poor nine- year old girl!)

* As with any amusement park ride, sometimes things happen and it stops for a while. This tropette had the wonderful experience of that happening to her. For half an hour. In the hallway with the doors being pushed out towards you by skeletal hands.
* The video game carries on its source material's tradition of creeping out those who play it. The whole game has a general air of suspense as you walk down dimly lit hallways with only your lantern to guide you, worrying about enemies leaping out at you, but here are some specifics:
** The introduction of the StringyHairedGhostGirl enemy, which you see for just a split-second before she disappears around the corner. When you follow and manage to catch her...
** Atticus Thorn isn't very scary looking at first glance, but when he promises, "I'm watching," he's not lying. After you light up the Winter Garden, you see him watching you through the glass before flying off, leaving you with some serious ParanoiaFuel.
** The Mausoleum. Going down a ''very'' dark passage, hearing several loud sounds before a swarm of bats flies past you and out of the area.
