Mina for her part is so naturally quiet that she tends to have less than five minutes of talking in most of TWICE's content.

'''[=TWICE=]''' (Hangul: 트와이스) is a [[KoreanPopMusic South Korean]] GirlGroup formed by [=JYP=] Entertainment in 2015. They debuted through the reality show ''[[Series/SixteenKorea Sixteen]]'', where sixteen girls competed against each other to decide who would be the ones to debut in a long-planned project of the agency. Eventually, nine winners – seven who won outright, plus one each based on audience votes and JYP's personal recommendation – were chosen and became members of the group. Of the members, five of them are Korean (Music/{{Nayeon}}, Jeongyeon, Music/{{Jihyo}}, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung), three are Japanese (Momo, Sana, Mina) and one is Taiwanese (Tzuyu).

In June 2017, Twice officially debuted in Japan, with their first Japanese-language EP ''#TWICE'' – adaptations of their first 5 Korean title songs (coupled with the Korean originals) – being certified Platinum, and made their first live appearance in Tokyo that July. They later followed this up with Japan-only singles and albums, technically also making them a [[JapanesePopMusic J-Pop]] group. While Twice usually perform their Japanese songs in Japan, they sang some of the most popular ones ("Doughnut" and "Celebrate" for example) for western audience during ''Ready To Be'' world tour.

In May 2022, JYPE, through Twice's social media channels, announced they would release Nayeon's first solo EP – a SelfTitledAlbum – the next month, marking the first commercial solo music release for any of the members. On July 12th 2022, JYPE formally announced that all nine members had renewed their contracts, making Twice the agency's first girl-group to break the so-called "seven-year-curse", and one of the ''very'' few Korean groups to do so without losing or replacing any members.[[note]] The only other JYPE group to break the curse is BoyBand Music/TwoPM but they lost a member early on. Music/{{Got7}} doesn't count due to leaving JYPE once their contracts expired and then re-forming as an independent group. Music/{{BTS}} and Music/RedVelvet are the other major groups to have gone over seven years at the same company without any lineup change.[[/note]]

** Tzuyu has a reputation for being this. She's drop-dead gorgeous (although the darkest-skinned member of TWICE, not the standard RavenHairIvorySkin example of this trope), and she's nicknamed the "evil maknae" due to how blunt and detached she can seem.

* BewareTheQuietOnes: As noted elsewhere, despite being one of the quietest members on-screen, Tzuyu doesn't have the nickname 'Savage Maknae' without good reason. Mina also has her moments, even if it's typically more often played for laughs, having played the strict company director and gang boss in various ''Time to Twice'' content, while also not hesitating to take opportunities to display her competitive streak. And upon being called 'scary' Jihyo replied that Dahyun can be scary while smiling, and Mina is scary even when she's not doing anything.

** Another special mention goes to Jeongyeon (and not just for getting kicked in the shin by a horse and handling it like a champ). She continued to perform through (and while recovering from, fingers crossed) her health issues (started by what was thought to be just slightly more severe neck pain which is common to Kpop performers/idols). However, it turned out to be much worse and was initially misdiagnosed until she needed surgery to treat and extended physical rest to recover from. It is generally agreed that she returned to performing afterwards too soon and continued problems contributed to her first hiatus. But despite the need for a second hiatus, she's battled back, much to the joy of both ONCE and TWICE.

* GirlinessUpgrade: Jeongyeon was the group's designated {{Bifauxnen}} for its first few years, but eventually imposed a GirlinessUpgrade upon herself. ** Nayeon's family name is transliterated as "Lim" in official subtitles despite being pronounced by her and spelled as 임 ("Im") in Korean. The latter spelling is used by fans and Website/ThatOtherWiki. Nayeon used the latter spelling for her solo SelfTitledAlbum.

** During the Behind-the-Scenes of her solo MV "POP!", Nayeon spent a couple minutes discussing the internal struggle that she hadn't yet become close with her six backup dancers, wanted to, but also admitting that having a professional relationship made practices and shoots more productive – and the TWICE girls tend to clown around during practice.

* PluckyGirl: In their trainee days, Chaeyoung was ''absolutely'' convinced she'd debut. This resolve, combined with her [[TheAce many]] [[RenaissanceWoman talents]] is what got her through [[Series/SixteenKorea SIXTEEN]] and ended up in the final lineup, and was mostly on the Major teams, too.

* HiddenDepths: Across their discography, there are forays into a wide range of genres, even Japanese style city-pop in ''Say Something''. But this extends to their respective singing styles as well (both Dahyun and Chaeyoung, TWICE's go-to rappers, have very clear and soothing singing voices, while Momo is no slouch in the rapping department). Notably, Jihyo has very a characteristic and powerful singing voice and very rarely uses falsetto, which makes her performance in ''First Time'' (which she also wrote the lyrics for) stand out, for singing in falsetto for almost all her lines yet remaining distinctive.

** "One More Time", "What Is Love?", "BDZ", "Likey", "Fancy" and "Kura Kura" had them yell out the group name.

* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Well, single ''girl'' seeks good ''boy'', as they all were so young at the time.
