May as well make clearer Ra\'s al Ghul\'s section is separate from Joker\'s.

** Two things to keep in mind: First, Heath Ledger died before the movie premiered, and people don't like to SpeakIllOfTheDead. Second, the fact that this trope kicks in may prove that they just wrote the villain extremely well, in the context of a CrapSackWorld where the film takes place, his NietzscheWannabe philosophies ''do'' seem to be unfortunately but arguably true at first.

It\'s probably not on a similar level. Come to think of it that was a poor choice of words.

** There's also a similar (albeit more understandable) level of MisaimedFandom towards [[BatmanBegins Ra's al Ghul]]. Consider, for example, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqHp9vLCYzM this video,]] where some users in the comments section were saying they prefer Ra's al Ghul's philosophy to Batman's, even going so far as to say that Ra's al Ghul had the right idea whereas Batman was just foolishly defending a city with no hope. For what it's worth, there's a difference between agreeing with a NietzscheWannabe CompleteMonster and agreeing with a KnightTemplar WellIntentionedExtremist, but the overall issue is pretty much the same; people agreeing with the villain a little more than the director probably intended.

** The sequel, ''The Lost World'' also gets this due to the protagonists being either complete morons (who cause every death in the movie) or dead within thirty minutes. In contrast, AntiVillain Roland Tembo has EnsembleDarkhorse status for being the only major character in the movie with any real sense of what's going on and what must be done.

** Similarly, there's the film's position on technology. It seems to be advocating responsible, low-impact technology use. Given its [[{{Anvilicious}} general lack of subtlety]], a lot of viewers interpreted it as [[ScienceIsBad anti-technology]], period. Many pointed out the apparent BrokenAesop of a film that required oodles of technology to be anti-tech.

* "Das Millionenspiel" is a german movie from 1970 about a (fake) game show, which is about a group of people hunting and trying to kill the competitor, who will win one million Mark (german currency) if he survives for 7 days. The film was pretty intense for its time and some people even thought it was a real game show. But that`s not the point. Besides people who were complaining in indignation, there were also people who attended for becoming competitor, or even one of the hunters.

* [[http://www.worldmag.com/articles/16272 This review]] of the 2009 ''Film/SherlockHolmes'' film accused the director of [[spoiler:making the film into a subtle atheistic AuthorTract because Holmes finds out that all of the occult stuff employed by the antagonist in the film was proved to be clever trickery. This is [[CompletelyMissingThePoint despite the fact]] that DoingInTheWizard played a big part in more than one Sherlock Holmes book.]] The review also complains that the film was unfaithful to Holmesian lore in that the line "elementary, my dear Watson" was never spoken, even though this exact line [[BeamMeUpScotty was never spoken in the original books at all.]]
** What's really funny is this: ''"British director Guy Ritchie's brawling take on literature's most famous detective will no doubt disappoint traditionalists who prefer their Sherlock Holmes reserved, academic, and well-scrubbed."'' Ironic, considering the original Sherlock Holmes was a misogynistic cocaine junkie and InsufferableGenius who liked to shoot up the walls of his apartment in his spare time....exactly like the Sherlock of the film.
** There was also some complaining about Watson not being a bumbling, portly, elderly guy like he is in so many adaptations. Apparently those people don't realize that Watson of the books was highly intelligent(even solving parts of cases with his own wits, like in "Hound of The Baskervilles"), an excellent marksman, and around the same age as Holmes.
