* {{Adorkable}}: Megamind, whether he's in his Bernard disguise or out of it.

** Hal Stewart, Roxanne's cameraman, begins the story as an expy of ''ComicBook/JimmyOlsen'', being a geeky redheaded everyman who works with the leading lady covering the exploits of the local superhero. But whereas Jimmy usually gets portrayed as an {{Adorkable}} and helpful NiceGuy, Hal comes off as creepy even before he becomes a supervillain.

* AlliterativeName: Megamind, Metro Man, Roxanne Ritchi. Music Man, also fitting the "M" theme.

* HolographicDisguise: Megamind's holo-watch projects an hologram around him which allows him to appear as someone else. During the course of the film, Megamind uses it to impersonate the warden, Bernard, and Titan's "Space Dad". It's also used by Minion to impersonate the warden to help Megamind escape.

* FromNobodyToNightmare: Megamind himself. Also, Hal to Titan.

* HateSink: Hal Stewart starts off as Roxanne Ritchi's creepy and [[StalkerWithACrush stalkerish]] cameraman, and only gets worse from there. After being accidentally given powers by Megamind, the latter disguises himself as his "Space Dad" and trains him to become the superhero known as Titan/Tighten. More interested in getting the girl than actually being a hero, Tighten uses his new powers to try to impress Roxanne. She rejects his advances, causing him to storm off and begin a life of crime. When he finds out that Megamind was his "Space Dad" and got Roxanne to go out with him, Tighten attempts to murder him in a fiery rage. Following Megamind's retreat, Tighten subjugates Metro City as his own, and when Roxanne [[IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight attempts to talk sense into him]], Tighten declares that there is no good in him, and kidnaps and tries to kill her for [[IfICantHaveYou not loving him.]]

** Later:

* BalanceBetweenGoodAndEvil: {{Invoked}} by Megamind, who learns from experience that supervillains cannot exist without superheroes.

* BaldOfEvil: As the nemesis of Metro Man, Megamind's bald head brings to mind both evil supervillians like ComicBook/LexLuthor or [[ComicBook/{{Shazam}} Dr. Sivana]] and evil, super-intelligent aliens.

* DamselInDistress: When Megamind and Metro Man clash, Roxanne is a parody of this; she is so used to being kidnapped and rescued that she is not fazed by it anymore. Once Titan enters the picture, it's played straight.

** The only exception is when [[spoiler:Minion reveals himself to be disguised as Megamind towards the end; his eyes were green like Megamind's, presumably the creators had to break the rule in that instance not to risk ruining that particular reveal. One might also assume Minion uses a new watch Megamind made and thus he upgraded it to changing the eye color as well.]]

** Megamind's watch can turn himself or others into anyone he's scanned it with, but the only thing that doesn't change is the wearer's eye color. Anyone who remembers this will notice [[spoiler:that the "warden" Megamind apologizes to]] and later [[spoiler:"Metro Man" returning]] have the wrong eye color.

** Throughout the film, Megamind calls Metro City "Metrocity" (pronounced like "atrocity"), despite multiple people trying to correct him. In the climax, Hal realizes that Megamind is Metroman in disguise by recognizing this quirk.

* BoringInvincibleHero: Metro Man has no weaknesses and always wins his battles with Megamind. Despite the adoration he receives from Metro City, he has begun to find this life boring and lately has just been "going through the motions". He desires a change but feels trapped by the city's expectations of him. Therefore, when Megamind enacts his solar-powered deathtrap, Metro Man sees an opportunity to finally retire as the city's defender.

** When Roxanne fastens Mega's cloak around his neck, while standing in front of him. His head is bowed, possibly to express "shyness"; but from the angle of his eyes when the camera circles around, you can see that he is also taking advantage of the moment ''to stare at her cleavage''.

* HowDoIShotWeb: Titan's powers, like his heat vision, at least initially.

** Megamind's emergency escape from his GiantMecha is [[IncrediblyLamePun pretty... anal]].
