Aho Girl ("Idiot Girl") is a Yonkoma four-panel manga hitting hard on the front line between smartness and stupidity. It revolves around high schooler Yoshiko Hanabatake. As the series name implies, Yoshiko is stupid. Like, a "get all zeroes on multiple choice tests" level of stupid. The only person who is close to her initially is Akuru "A-kun" Akutsu, a genius and Yoshiko's long-suffering childhood friend. At the tearful pleas of Yoshiko's mother, Akuru vows to make Yoshiko mentally evolve to "at least something human-like". Along the way, they are joined by many other fellow idiots as they probe deeper into the true meaning of idiocy.

* AbhorrentAdmirer:
** A-kun is revolted by Yoshiko, due to both her lack of brains and her disgusting eating habits. Whenever he's asked if he likes Yoshiko he flatly responds that humans can't date monkeys.
** The Public Morals Chairwoman terrifies A-kun due to her habits of stalking, confusing leaps in logic, aggressive advances and all around emotional instability. It probably doesn't help that she's gullible enough to buy into Yoshiko's insanity so often.

* ArtisticAge: Despite A-kun stating her age to be "nearly forty", Yoshie could very easily be mistaken for Yoshiko's older sister due to the art style.

* BigBrotherInstinct: A-kun has a strong one towards his little sister Ruri.

* CreditsGag: The opening credits features a gag and ends with a close-up of someone's reaction to the gag (the gag and the person varies with each episode).

* CreditsGag: The opening credits features feature a gag and ends with a close-up of someone's reaction to the gag (the gag and the person varies with each episode).

* DamnYouMuscleMemory: A-kun can OffhandBackhand Yoshiko automatically, to the point he accidentally almost beats his own sister when she shouts in a movie theater (he thought it was Yoshiko, who was actually taped up at the time; in "fairness", there's also no reason to suspect tying Yoshiko up would successfully prevent her from doing something stupid).
* ADogNamedDog: Yoshiko being the blithering imbecile she is, naturally names her new dog "Dog". * DumbassHasAPoint: Considering the series, Yoshiko is bound to get a point in every now and then.
** Right from the beginning of the series, she states that A-kun doesn't have any friends because he gets angry easily and has an anti-social personality. Despite his situation, she's still correct (something the much more intelligent Sayaka also points out).
** When they first meet Ryuuichi and he's confrontational, Yoshiko correctly states that A-kun is being a coward.
** Although the course of action she subsequently takes ultimately falls under ZanyScheme, Yoshiko isn't wrong when she tells A-kun that his InnocentlyInsensitive response to Atsuko when she tried practice flirting on him was totally uncalled for, and her plan to do the opposite of what A-kun did actually works perfectly and manages to succeed in raising Atsuko's confidence.
** Despite giving her mostly terrible advice on how to become less plain, Sayaka notes that Yoshiko's suggestion to become fit through running is a surprisingly normal one.
** When a Gal student reveals she hasn't done anything romantic with her boyfriend for three months, Yoshiko warns that if she doesn't at least tell him she likes him, she could end up being dumped.

* GoofyPrintUnderwear: Trope by Yoshiko's mom who states that only girls who wears these type of underwear are actually pure since it implies that they have no intention of showing them to any males. kitty-print panties counts and therefore, she is too pure to .

Aho Girl revolves around high schooler Yoshiko Hanabatake.
