* Parker from ''{{Leverage}}'', with many characters asking what is wrong with her or that she is nuts.

* Maria Ushiromiya from ''UminekoNoNakuKoroNi'' is on speaking terms with many witches, ghosts, talking animals and other strange beasts, but never seems to have mastered interacting with her fellow human beings. As might be expected of [[spoiler:someone who was [[DeadPersonConversation mentored by her]]]], Ange follows suit.

* Toko and Stella in ''KaraNoShoujo.'' The former has a kind of twisted way of thinking and is sort of bewitching which stands in great contrast to the mostly zombie like student body at her school. The latter is a spacey foreigner both in speech and in the way she doesn't seem entirely grounded.

* Arcueid from ''{{Tsukihime}}''. Sure, all the girls here seem to have superpowers or secret [[RapeAsBackstory tragic pasts]], but she's different in that she doesn't actually seem to ''[[AngstWhatAngst care.]]'' Plus a CloudCuckoolander and a bit of a ditz. Why is the vampire TykeBomb the one that's [[{{Yandere}} usually]] the least crazy?
* Rin from ''KatawaShoujo'', who [[MadArtist paints strange murals which even she can't explain]], [[CrypticConversation speaks in a cryptic manner]], and [[CloudCuckooLander usually has her head in the clouds]]. She was also born [[ArmlessBiped without arms]], but since the game takes place in an academy for disabled students, [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight this isn't seen as that unusual]].

* Homura Akemi from ''PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'' comes across as this at first due to her [[EmotionlessGirl apparent lack of emotion]].

* Mei Misaki from {{Another}}
* Rei Asaka from OniisamaE. Subverted with [[spoiler: Rei's sister Fukiko]] in the anime; she ''does'' act briefly like a StrangeGirl, but [[spoiler: it's mostly [[BitchInSheepsClothing an act]] to take Nanako by surprise.]]

She's not normal, that's for sure. The only thing you can pin down about the Strange Girl is that she's hard to pin down (when she isn't doing the pinning, that is). She's visually distinct from her normal peer group, typically in both physical appearance (she's likely to be an EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette[=/=]RavenHairIvorySkin) and dress, but sometimes only one of the two. As far as demeanor is concerned, she can be anything from TheWonka, a {{Cloudcuckoolander}}, TheStoic, a [[TakeOverTheWorld world conqueror]], TheMessiah, TheOphelia, an EmotionlessGirl, [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg Haru]][[SuzumiyaHaruhi hi]]... or [[TheQuietOne quiet]], [[StraightMan sensible]] and even friendly. Anything goes as long as it stands out from the series' norm.

* ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'': Jade is a CloudCuckoolander with prescient dreams and strange habits (most notably interacting with the stuffed corpse of her grandfather as though he were still alive), but the real queen of this trope has to be resurrected Aradia, who has an ''incredibly'' cheery fascination with death and is overjoyed at the prospect of throwing her dying [[AmicableExes ex-boyfriend]] a "[[TheFunInFuneral human corpse party]]".

* Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'s Jade Harley is pretty much constantly upbeat and energetic, and is her friends all seem to think she is a normal, if slightly excitable, girl. [[spoiler:She lives on an uncharted island in the somewhere in the Pacific, which was discovered by her grandfather, a business tycoon and noted polymath. [[PosthumousCharacter After his death]], she taxidermied his body, as is the Harley family tradition, and mounted his corpse in the foyer. She is a narcoleptic, and [[FaintingSeer frequently has visions in her sleep]]. She is currently cared for by Becquerel, her [[BigFriendlyDog Big Friendly]] [[BigBadassWolf Badass]] [[RealityWarper God Dog]].]]

** However, Alice ''is'' very strange by real world standards. She pretends to be multiple people, talks to herself, spent several minutes pondering whether cats eat bats or bats eat cats, gives herself advice and ignores it, plays chess with her cats, tries to get her kitten Dinah to pose like a chess picece, and once BOXED HER OWN EARS after cheating in a game AGAINST HERSELF.

* ''EmilyTheStrange'' of Hot Topic fame is actually a cynical anarchist who doesn't like other people and sincerely wants to take over the world one day. She doesn't exactly have any plans for it, and kind of assumes that it'll happen through sheer force of attitude.

*** Of course, it could just be a simple ShoutOut people are blowing way out of proportion. It's not unlike people with similar characters to someone else to reference them in that way. Her creator might have seen Rosamond and thought it would be cute to draw Emily and her cats the same way. Loads of artists do that.

* Urabe Mikoto, the titular character of the manga ''MysteriousGirlfriendX''. Urabe being really, really, ''really'' weird is pretty much the entire point of the manga -- Urabe is [[TheStoic somewhat unemotional]] and unsocial to the point of being a complete outcast, but seems to have some form of psychic powers -- specifically, she knows without a doubt that she will lose her virginity to the main character, Tsubaki Akira (the thought causes her to enter hysterics out of the blue during class), and shares an empathic connection with him that is initiated by [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything spit]] -- a common trick she uses on him when she suspects him of dirty thoughts is to stick her finger in his mouth and suck on it before he can react -- she then instantly knows exactly what he was thinking. Similarly, Tsubaki is addicted to her spit, and has to have a dose a day or he suffers withdrawal. She can also cut things apart with superhuman speed and precision [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotAwesome with the craft scissors she carries around in the waistband of her panties]].

* ''SuzumiyaHaruhi.'' "Normal humans don't interest me. If anyone here is an alien, a time traveler, slider, or an esper, then come find me! That is all."

* It's hard to say whether Senjougahara Hitagi from ''LightNovel/{{Bakemonogatari}}'' is {{Tsundere}}, {{Yandere}} or something else altogether, but either way she's unbelievably strange. She considers herself more powerful than [[DragonBall Shen Long]] and [[ImprobableWeaponUser carries a entire classroom worth of stationery]] [[HammerSpace concealed on her person]]. She promises her boyfriend that he'll be the first person she ever murders, and if someone else kills him then she'll avenge him - and she considers this ''romantic.''
* Rei Ayanami, of ''NeonGenesisEvangelion.'' Right from the start, her [[HeroicAlbino albinism]], [[TheStoic emotionlessness]] and ExtremeDoormat personality make her a ''highly'' strange girl. It might have to do with her being a [[spoiler:[[CloningBlues clone]]]] with a [[spoiler:[[HalfHumanHybrid hybrid mix of human and angel DNA]]]] who may or may not have a [[spoiler:{{soul}}.]]

** To be specific, she's a PerkyGoth ActionGirl BlitheSpirit [[{{VampireVannabe}} with a]] [[{{NightmareFetishist}} thing for]] [[{{OurVampiresAreDifferent}} vampires.]] (One of whom she actually manages to become the OfficialCouple with.) She doesn't actually ''act'' much different from a regular teenage girl, though.

** Series/DoctorWho is full of 'em. They span the gamut from somewhat odd to downright unearthly.

* Willow in ''BuffyTheVampireSlayer'', at first (before the producers moved away from the "softer side of Sears" look).

* Kokoro from Wallaby can be considered strange, or just insane, seeing that she talks to a stuffed animal.
