Suffice to say, Kakashi passes out and slips into a coma shortly afterwards, despite having no visible injuries. In the English dub, Kisame comments about how surprised he is that Itachi's genjutsu didn't break Kakashi's spirit. Whether he means this in a literal or metaphorical way is unclear.
