** FridgeBrilliance, when you consider that "Spoony" actually ''does'' mean something, it's just not a commonly used word.

** Noticably, when it came time for them to dub ''DragonballKai'', they put some of it [[AscendedMeme back in]].

* ''StarOcean 2's'' EnhancedRemake got this. The fans were ''all'' saying, "Boy I hope they redo the voice acting!" and/or "I hope they translate it better this time!" when the EnhancedRemake was announced for the Playstation Portable. Those were perhaps the ''number one criticism'' from fans, and even critics who dislike the genre as a whole. Then it comes, and fans actually said they liked the Playstation version ''better'', partly due to the NostalgiaFilter. (The Ten Wise Men names, however, are all up to the subject of opinion and are therefore excluded, some people who liked the Playstation Portable version better actually appreciated Indalecio) Nevermind that not only were some characters saying "Claude" and others "Craude" in the Playstation version, the developers actually ''forgot to record'' two of Rena's spells (That she often uses) and they play the japanese audio, and it was in general, just a rush job.

* The AngLee-directed ''[[TheIncredibleHulk Hulk]]'' tried to be serious, but with its cheesy lines, poor acting, awful pace, dodgy effects (bouncy tanks!) and Hulk's Narmish roar (fun if you join in) the film managed to be a humorous example of SoBadItsGood. Then the second film actually didn't suck and was instead... [[SoOkayItsAverage watchable]]. Good if you're a fan of the film, not so good if you enjoyed laughing at it. Then again, a similar argument could be made for those who preferred the charm of the low-budget TV Series over the first big-budget movie's excesses.

** There were also people complaining about the art in the later ones, even though the generation one sprites were downright ''hideous''. (So hideous, they had to update them ''twice'' so they even ''looked'' like they could possibly be something from the manga)

* The original ScoobyDoo had bad dialouge, low quality animation, [[SoUnfunnyItsFunny bad jokes]] and [[JigsawPuzzlePlot ridiculous plots]] for the "monsters" reason of being there and that memorable line "I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for you meddling kids." So even after airing it years after the time its set in, it is fun to watch. But then multiple remakes came along [[NarmCharm removing these charming factors]] and [[ILikedItBetterWhenItSucked well...]]

* The English dub of Angel Blade gives all the women rounded even tones... including [[PsychopathicManchild Karin,]] which isn't ravingly bad, per se, but it loses its narmy goodness in the process.

** This is due in part to the fact that only the English translation used archaic-sounding dialogue (the Japanese version always used modern Japanese), and actually made some nonsensical changes such as Inkidasu being "Iaido" (drawing the sword from the sheath, and a real martial art) instead of "Draw Out" (drawing spirits from the sword). Say what you will about the PS1 version's bad dialogue, but the item/skill names were dead-on literal. In a slight reversal of this trope, the "write entirely new dialogue to match an aesthetic not found in the original" was applied ''later'' and tends to be more well-received amongst fans who weren't around for the original.

** The same happened in Generation IV, which made a ''lot'' of pokemon ''significantly'' more useful.
* ''TheElderScrolls'' had complaints about graphics and repetitive combat, especially how hard it was to measure depth. Made easier to actually ''hit'' enemies in the other games, and made it so that one isn't ''constantly'' resting (Unless you're exploiting Alchemy in ''Morrowind'') to merely bring back ''fatigue''. Some complaints about ''Oblivion'' was merely because Alchemy wasn't so bugged.

* FinalFantasyIV, on the other hand, has consistently ''avoided'' this by keeping the much-beloved "spoony bard" line in all its various rereleases.

** ''{{Troll 2}}'' is a similiar case. Hilariously, spectacularly terrible, and considered by many to be the MostTriumphantExample of SoBadItsGood. ''Troll'', however, is really only notable because of its connection to ''Troll 2'', and because, by pure coincidence, its hero is [[NamesTheSame named]] HarryPotter. Only a borderline example, however, as ''Troll'' and ''Troll 2'' are related InNameOnly. ''Troll 3'' (no meaningful connection either, as it's really another sequel to ''TheBladeMaster'') was also completely insignificant.

* This trope was parodied in an Onion video about the 2009 ''Film/StarTrek'' movie, with viewers complaining about the dazzling action scenes and fast-paced writing. "Where's the heavy-handed moralism and political commentary? Why aren't the fights more like two out-of-shape guys in rubber suits doing lame karate chops at each other?"

* The GBA remake FinalFantasyVI recieved quite a bit of flak for its re-translation, particularly the "correction" of a number of Woolseyisms. Kefka's immortal "Son of a submariner!" line becomes the far-less-memorable "Son of a sandworm!"

* A chunk of the [[ResidentEvil1 original]] ResidentEvil's fanbase was offput by the [=GameCube=] remake of the the game from 2002, which signifigantly "improved" the original's hammy acting and terrible localization ("You were almost a Jill sandwich!") and replaced it with a more natural, sometimes genuinely scary script ("A second later, you would have fit nicely in a sandwich!"). Usually for these fans, the choice between the [=PlayStation=] and [=GameCube=] versions comes down to whether you want cheesiness or actual horror.

** Of course, the remake contains its own supply of amusingly poor writing and hammy delivery, if one knows where to look. These include Barry's incredulous "''A dining room''?!", Wesker's "Christhisway!!", and Chris's terribly-acted "You murdered them with your own ''dirty hands''!"

*** They are so much better when said commercials are filled with HumongousMecha and StuffBlowingUp. Even if the plot fails at being coherent and the dialogue is... [[SoYeah yeah.]]
