* Harry to Molly in ''TheDresdenFiles'', after [[spoiler:she agrees to help him die. This foreshadows their later relationship as LadyAndKnight]].

* In ''Film/TheGodfather'', the Don's men kiss his hand. (Probably not a romantic example ...)

* When Margaret Hale (Daniela Denby-Ashe) in ''Literature/NorthAndSouth'' can't find words to explain to John Thornton (RichardArmitage) that she is, in fact, desperately in love with him, she passionately kisses the back of his hand instead.

** The doctor kisses River's hand after [[spoiler:burning up a bit of his life to heal her broken wrist]]. She responds by slaping him hard, but not for the kiss, but for [[spoiler:wasting his regeneration energy on her]].

* Played with in the ''LuckyLuke'' album ''Calamity Jane'', where Jane must learn to behave like a lady, so she gets provided with a good-manners teacher. As soon she meets with him, she whacks him (off panel), and then explains: "This one wanted to lick my hand!"

* A subversion as with the ''LuckyLuke'' example above was done by Ellie May from ''Series/TheBeverlyHillbillies'', both in the show and in the movie.

* It's easy to miss, but at the end of ''Brave'', [[spoiler:when the clans are returning to their homes, one of the clan leader's sons can be seen kissing Merida's hand as they prepare to leave. Given that Merida and all three of the sons agreed that they weren't ready to be married, it likely was meant as a sign of friendship or respect (she still, after all, was the king's daughter).]]

* In ''Film/CityLights'', a slightly punch-drunk [[Creator/CharlieChapin Tramp]] does this to his trainer in a boxing match thinking he's the [[LoveInterest blind flower girl]].

* Happens a few times between Mulder and Scully on ''Series/{{The X-Files}}'', notably in "Redux II" and "The Truth".

* ''StarTrekVoyager''. MadScientist Dr Chaotic does this to Queen Arachnia after she strides majestically into his throne room. As Arachnia is being played by Captain Janeway, she's not impressed.

A male character takes the hand of a woman (often his LoveInterest) and kisses it as a mark of respect. Used to portray the man as particularly romantic, [[KnightInShiningArmor chivalrous]], foreign, or [[BornInTheWrongCentury just]] [[GoodOldWays old-fashioned]].

* In one of the ''Series/DoctorWho'' Literature/EighthDoctorAdventures novels, the Doctor does this as an oddly casual greeting:

* Lawrence seems to be a fan of this in the second season of ''LightNovel/SpiceAndWolf''. He's usually pulling Holo's leg when he does this but it's still [[ShipTease ridiculously adorable]].

* In FireEmblemAwakening, if [[KnightInShiningArmor Frederick]] is the chosen love interest for a female Avatar, [[http://fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/File:Frederick_confession.jpg his confession scene]] will have him getting ready to kiss her hand.
