[-[[caption-width-right:350:[[MysticalWhiteHair White hair?]] Check. [[RedEyesTakeWarning Red eyes?]] Check. Heroic? [[AllLovingHero You betcha.]]]]-]

[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albinism Albinism]] is a condition that affects the production of melanin, resulting in the body and hair of the subject to be partially or completely white. In fiction, use of this condition to indicate heroism usually takes advantage of the idea that that LightIsGood. White is the [[GoodColorsEvilColors color of innocence, purity and holiness]], so a character whose whole body is white must be very good indeed, sometimes to the point of MysticalWhiteHair.

This trope is more popular in Japan, where pale skin is considered very fashionable. In the west, [[ButNotTooWhite pale skin is usually frowned upon]] as looking [[UndeathlyPallor sickly or creepy]], making the inverse of the trope more common. Heroic Albinos sometimes, but rarely, have the [[RedEyesTakeWarning red eyes]] found in some cases of albinism in humans.

Contrast WhiteHairBlackHeart, where pale skin and white hair are a sign of villainy.

!!Examples:
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* "Prince" of ''Literature/HalfPrince'' is a textbook example, as Prince's quest to be a legendary hero is what drives the story.
* Prussia/Gilbert from ''Webcomic/AxisPowersHetalia'', while not really any different from the other characters when it comes to heroism, probably likes to think of himself as such. He likes to be a pest and has an enormous ego, but he loves baby chicks and panda plushies and once started a blog.
* Jo from ''Anime/BurstAngel'' is the SociopathicHero version of this.
* Canaan, from literally, ''Anime/{{Canaan}}''. She was probably some other hair color before, since Alphard explained that synthetic synesthesia is achieved at a painful process: your hair turns white, and you go through a bad headache.
* [[spoiler:Accelerator]] from ''LightNovel/ACertainMagicalIndex'' is an [[AntiHero anti-heroic version]] of this trope. [[NobleDemon He still calls himself a villain, though.]]
* Azmaria from ''Manga/ChronoCrusade''. Is one of the "Apostles" (a [[ChosenOne select]] group of people [[BlessedWithSuck gifted with a divine power]], in her case an amazing singing voice.) She is one of the good guys, although the BigBad wants her so he can use her power to his own ends.
* Manga/{{Claymore}}s are all essentially albino, since the transformation from a human to a half-yoma mutes their eye, hair, and presumably skin tones. Their primary objective is to protect humans from yoma, so they fight the good fight in the long run. Sure, there are some Claymores that are a bit [[TheBerserker unpredictable]] and a little [[AxeCrazy quirky]], but it's not ''entirely'' [[FreudianExcuse some of their faults]]. If it wasn't for some [[DarkAndTroubledPast traumatic, childhood experience]] [[BreakTheCutie and upbringing]], then it's probably the [[NebulousEvilOrganisation Organization's fault]], who have [[AncientConspiracy their own motives for producing]] this AmazonBrigade. But at least a select few warriors have taken it upon themselves to try and [[StormingTheCastle correct the Organization's mistakes]]. [[SuicideMission Or at least they try]].
* Empress Tianzi in ''Anime/CodeGeass'', although she's more like TheWoobie than a hero. She does as much good as a sheltered and shy thirteen year old can hope to do, though.
%%* Benten from ''Anime/CyberCityOedo808''.
* Shiro from ''Manga/DeadmanWonderland'' starts out this way, but then it's revealed that [[spoiler:due to a SplitPersonality and a DarkAndTroubledPast, she is actually The Wretched Egg, responsible for killing all of Ganta's classmates and landing him in that hellhole to begin with.]] :And THEN it's revealed that [[spoiler:she doesn't even ''have'' a split personality; she was evil all along.]]
* While the morality of pretty much any character in ''Manga/DeathNote'' is debatable, Near does work to defeat Light and end his killing spree. [[spoiler:He succeeds, too, which helps.]]
* Heine Rammsteiner from ''Manga/DogsBulletsAndCarnage'' becomes this more and more as the series goes on. Despite his bad attitude and a tendency toward apathy, (and the fact that he's a genetically altered killing machine with a psychotic voice in his head that occasionally takes over and performs horrible acts of violence) he steps in to save a little girl from getting sold into the sex trade and makes sure that she has somewhere safe to live, and from there he slowly becomes increasingly altruistic.
* Dorothea Essenbach from the manga ''Dorothea'' is a prime example of this trope as she is very obviously an albino with a heroic cause (protecting her friends and family from 'supposed witch'-hunters).
* Akise Aru, boy detective, from ''Manga/FutureDiary''. He's certainly more heroic than [[EvilVersusEvil most characters in the series.]]
* Misaki Saiki, an albinistic dominatrix, is the principal heroine in the ''Manga/GhostTalkersDaydream'' manga.
* Gintoki Sakata, the main character from ''Manga/{{Gintama}}'', with red eyes ([[AdaptationDyeJob green in the manga]]) and a white natural perm. Sure, he might be a JerkAss ManChild with a SweetTooth and a ''Magazine/ShonenJump'' addiction, but he's still pretty heroic where it counts.
* While Alzeid from ''Manga/HatenkouYuugi'' isn't the most heroic of characters, he's definitely not evil. It's also a plot point that he and his brother don't suffer from the health problems common in albinism.
* Bell's albinism in ''LightNovel/IsItWrongToTryToPickUpGirlsInADungeon'' ties into his WhiteBunny AnimalMotif. His soul is also [[LightIsGood chalk white]], taking this trope to extremes (especially considering the goddess who mentioned this had never seen anything like this before.)
* ''Franchise/{{Jewelpet}}'': Ruby, TheHeroine of the franchise, is a white rabbit with red eyes.
* ''Manga/{{Jormungand}}'':
** Koko Hekmatyar has bright-white hair and skin, but blue eyes. Being a arms dealer with her own private micro-army, she qualifies for the AntiHero variant.
** Jonah is this with a deep tan. In this case, the tan is justified as he was born and raised in the Middle East.
* ''Anime/{{K}}'' has Anna, a psychic ElegantGothicLolita who is a Clansman of the Red King [[spoiler:until she ''becomes'' the new Red King in the movie.]] She has the red eyes. She also happens to be colorblind, and the only color she can see, is... you guessed it.
** There are plenty of other heroic white-haired characters, most of whom are pale, but Anna seems to be the only one that really counts for this trope.
* ''Franchise/KagerouProject'':
** Mary, a quarter-Medusa whose ImageSong is about her beginnings as a {{Hikikomori}} living alone in a forest (referenced below in Music), and how she came to believe she was an evil, but was proven wrong by Seto. Throughout the rest of the story she is a quiet member of the Mekakushi-Dan, but [[spoiler:ends up saving everyone using her Medusa powers when Shintaro and Ayano give her back all of the memories of previous time-loops]].
** Mary's mother, Shion, was no slouch either. While she did keep her daughter inside (albeit with the intent of showing her the world once she was sure her powers were under control), she uses her own power for the first time (after swearing to her mother not to) when Mary was in danger, [[spoiler:[[HeroicRROD resulting in her own death]]]].
** Tsukihiko, Shion's father and Marry's grandfather, was also this trope. He empathized and fell in love with Azami due to his albinism also making him a "monster" to the villagers, so he decides to build a home for the two of them. In the process of building the home he was beaten by the other villagers whenever he went to get materials, but he never faltered and always kept a smile on his face for her.
* ''Manga/KimbaTheWhiteLion'' has...um...[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Kimba the white lion]], though white lions are more accurately described as [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leucism leucistic]] rather than albinistic.
* Miyabi, ActionGirl from the manga ''Manga/{{Madness}}'', who is both shown to be (in the rare coloured page) and stated to be an albino. She used to be evil, but that was due to MindControl that turned her into an [[TheUnfettered Unfettered]] [[TranquilFury Calm-but-]]AxCrazy BloodKnight.
* ''Manga/MagiLabyrinthOfMagic'' gives us Ja'far. He's Sinbad's [[TheGoodChancellor Good Chancellor]] and [[OnlySaneMan tries to rein in]] his more reckless or morally gray impulses. He was less this trope in [[DarkAndTroubledPast his backstory]], though.
* Setsuna Sakurazaki of ''Manga/MahouSenseiNegima'' is an unusual case for being a [[HalfHumanHybrid half]]-[[{{Obake}} Demon]], and yet -- being member of the Uzoku/crow tribe -- somehow has white wings. Evangeline has guessed that Setsuna is a complete albino, wearing contact lenses and dying her hair to cover it up. It's clear why she'd hide it: she was exiled from her home and family due to her features, which they saw as an ill omen.
* Natasha from ''Majuutsukai No Shojo'' seems to be a villain during her first appearance, but she was actually mind controlled and is soon freed, after which she turns out to be a kind, ditzy and fiercely loyal, [[spoiler:to the point of sacrificing herself for the heroine.]]
* Tobirama Senju of ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' heavily contrasts with his brunette brother by being white-haired and pale-skinned - and the anime ramps it UpToEleven by giving him red eyes. He was a founder to Konoha - generally acknowledged as the most benevolent ninja village - and is still held as a model. In the flesh, he's rather less idealistic and more cynical than Hashirama but has his heart in the good place.
* Rei in ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' is usually taken as an albino as she has bluish-white hair, pale skin and reddish eyes. She also fights against {{Eldritch Abomination}}s that menace humanity. While Creator/HideakiAnno intended Rei to be a creepy EmotionlessGirl, a lot of the audience either took a shine to her or looked upon her as a StoicWoobie. [[spoiler:Another example of this trope on the same show is Kaworu Nagisa after [[LoveRedeems Shinji's love leads him to do a]] HeelFaceTurn.]]
* Xerxes Break from the manga ''Manga/PandoraHearts'' is an albinistic hero with a very intricate past ([[spoiler:his past self, Kevin Regnard, was one of the most notorious mass murderers in history, but sacrificed his life (to an extent) to reverse the deaths of the people he served in a desperation play]]) and a strange sense of humor. Though his motives are sometimes suspect, he tends towards self-sacrifice in times of need ([[spoiler:by using his Chain, the Mad Hatter, for example. Which is slowly killing him with every use as a result of the steps he took as Kevin Regnard]]).
* Isla from ''Anime/PlasticMemories'' is the protagonists partner and his love interest. She looks the part but is a RidiculouslyHumanRobot and other characters have [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair unusual hair colors]], so it's likely cosmetic.
* ''Anime/PrincessMononoke'' has Okkoto the white boar god. Despite the movie's GreyAndGrayMorality, Okkoto is certainly heroic in the sense of being a ReasonableAuthorityFigure and a courageous fighter.
* Inner Moka from ''Manga/RosarioToVampire'' is more of an AntiHero, although her shift from an {{Unscrupulous Hero}}ine to a KnightInSourArmor is pretty significant.
* The eponymous character of ''Manga/SoulEater'', while never outright stated to be albino due to his tanned skin, has the white hair and the red eyes, but is probably more an example of [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have White Hair]].
* ''Manga/TegamiBachi'' pretty much revels in this. The main character, Lag, as well as Gauche ([[spoiler:in the beginning, at least]]), Dr. Thunderland, and a number of others.
** There are a lot of albinos in Amberground, so it follows that a lot of them are going to be good guys.
* Rinka Urushiba in ''Manga/TokyoESP'', she even has glowing white hair when she uses her {{Intangibility}} powers.
* Soldier Blue of ''Manga/TowardTheTerra'' is one of the gentlest, kindest characters in the series, with a truly admirable inner calm. Despite this, he does not hesitate to place himself personally in the line of fire in literally a moment's notice if those he cares about are threatened. He literally threw himself in front of a blast meant to destroy an entire planet seconds after realizing what was going on.
%%* YÅ«ma Kuga from ''Manga/WorldTrigger''.
%%* Princess Hinoto from ''Manga/{{X1999}}''
* ''Anime/YuGiOh'':
** [[EvilBrit Ryou Bakura]]. Sure, he has an [[EnemyWithin evil spirit]] possessing him for most of the show, but when he is in control of himself, he's quite brave and kind.
** Kisara, who [[TakingTheBullet takes the bullet]] for Set.
** It's hard to say whether Bakura is intended as an albino or just a [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair weird-haired anime character]], but the fact his eyes are red in ''[[Anime/YuGiOhTheDarkSideOfDimensions The Dark Side of Dimensions]]'' hints toward him being actually albino. Even if human albinos usually don't really have red eyes.
* In ''Anime/Overlord2012'' the acting chief of the Red Eye LizardFolk tribe is an {{Adorkable}} female albino lizardwoman named Crusch Lulu. She thinks she is ugly because of her albinism, but Zaryusu instantly falls in love with her when he sees her.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* The White Witch from the ''ComicBook/{{Legion of Super-Heroes}}''. (Although her colouration is the result of her magical powers, she has pure white hair, chalk-white skin, and red eyes, so she certainly came across as an albino.)
* La Lunatica, a psychic vampire and member of the future hero team ''[[ComicBook/Marvel2099 X-Men 2099]]''.
* Domino from ''ComicBook/XForce'' (and other ComicBook/XMen books) is described as being an albino, despite having black hair. Maybe she dyes it.
* Silver Shadow from Dave Cockrum's ''{{Futurians}}'', a former super-spy who now has the power to control shadows and teleport through them.
* Elrod of Melvinbone, a parody of Elric (see Literature), occasional character in ''ComicBook/CerebusTheAardvark''. He speaks like Foghorn Leghorn and invariably, I say invariably, gets himself into trouble.
* Sigil from ''ComicBook/ShamansTears'' (and its spin-off ''ComicBook/BarSinister''), who is a human/vampire bat hybrid.
* The title character of ''ComicBook/{{Supreme}}'' along with his sister. Their white hair is the result of exposure to GreenRocks, though one of his villains does refer to Supreme as an albino.
* Fahrenheit Monahan from the ''LacklusterWorld'' series is an alienated albino journalist who tries to shake the rest of the world out of its consumerist slumber via some harmless vandalism.
* Victor "Vivi" Doyle, the main character of the ''C.O.V.E.N.'' graphic novels, has the pale skin, [[LongHairedPrettyBoy long white hair]] and red eyes, and he's a MellowFellow [[spoiler:According to Coco's stories, his genetic template, Erebus Blake, was just as good a guy.]]
* Olive from ''ComicBook/GothamAcademy'' is an interesting case as she has all the traits down except for her chocolate brown skin. She's more of AntiHero as well, pulling reckless stunts and crossing Batman, but they're all to protect the people she cares about. [[spoiler:Which includes Killer Croc.]]
* Rena from the Chilean comic ''ComicBook/{{Mampato}}'', an [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot albino telepath mutant girl of the 40th century]], who is very courageous and at the same time gentle and compassionate.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* TheHighQueen (in [[PrincessesRule all-but-name]]) Celestia is albino in ''Fanfic/{{Delusions}}''. She was born an albino mule but, upon ascension, her mane [[LockedIntoStrangeness changed colours]].
* ''Fanfic/LXGTempestRewrite'': When Mina becomes Mysta of the Moon, she obtains the body of an eternally young albino woman.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Animation]]
* Bartok, the albino bat from ''WesternAnimation/{{Anastasia}}'', becomes this in the DirectToVideo prequel ''WesternAnimation/BartokTheMagnificent''. (Even as the BigBad's minion in the original movie, Bartok isn't quite evil, given that he merely serves as PluckyComicRelief and ditches the BigBad in the end.)
* Taarna, the CuteMute ActionGirl from the last segment of ''WesternAnimation/HeavyMetal''.
* The Albino Pirate from ''WesternAnimation/ThePiratesInAnAdventureWithScientists'' probably counts as this. He's certainly not evil.
* Roger Rabbit from ''Film/WhoFramedRogerRabbit'' has white fur, [[FunnyAnimalAnatomy very pale pads on his feet]], and light blue eyes (light blue sclerae and blue irides). Although he also has black pupils, brown eyebrows, and an orange shock of hair on his head, and so not actually albino, it's clear his appearance was inspired by albino rabbits. However, giving him pink eyes was probably ruled out as too creepy, [[spoiler:and would've also fit Eddie's description of the "burning red eyes" of his brother's killer, confusing the issue of Roger's guilt or innocence]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* Caliban in ''Film/{{Logan}}'' has pale white skin and eyes. He shows his caring side by taking care of the ailing and elderly Professor Xavier and assisting the deteriorating Logan. Unfortunately, his albinism results in a severe weakness to sunlight, which is used to torture him by [[TheDragon Pierce]]. [[spoiler:He performs a heroic sacrifice attempting to take down Pierce.]]
* The White Rabbit and the White Queen from Creator/TimBurton's ''Film/AliceInWonderland2010''.
* Pei Donglai of ''Film/DetectiveDee'' is this, albeit leaning towards AntiHero rather than a straight hero.
* U-Vee from ''Film/DisturbingBehavior'' is not exactly a hero but he's still quite a likable character.
* Nuala the [[OurElvesAreDifferent Elf Princess]] from ''Film/HellboyIITheGoldenArmy''
* In ''Film/MeMyselfAndIrene'' Casper is set up as a madman who murdered his entire family. As his presence on this list indicates, that isn't quite true. [[spoiler:When Charlie and Irene ditch Casper with a flimsy excuse, it appears that Casper is going to pursue and kill them. However, at the film's climax, Casper ends up saving Charlie by killing the bad guy with a lawn dart. It's later revealed that Casper lied about murdering his family because he was intimidated by Charlie who was a paranoid schizophrenic. Turns out his family just moved to Arizona. "I mean look at me, I wouldn't last two days in the sun".]]
* You can't really say he is a hero, but Noi from ''Film/NoiAlbinoi'', an Icelandic movie, features an albino as the main character, who, while bored, is a good guy overall.
* The eponymous character in ''Film/{{Powder}}''.
%%* Magicien in ''Film/WarWitch''.
* Bim the dog, a Gordon setter, in ''Film/WhiteBimBlackEar''. Gordon setters are black with mahogany patches, while Bim is white with some black patches. And Bim is quite the hero, working tirelessly to get back to his master Ivan after Ivan falls ill with a heart problem and is taken away.
* Bhoot, the albino wolf cub in ''Film/{{Mowgli}}'' is a [[ThePollyanna constantly cheerful]] character who is Mowgli's best friend and LivingEmotionalCrutch.
* ''Film/TaleOfTales'': Elias and Jonah are apparently both albino, judging by their looks. Both are also good men.
* The title character in ''[[Franchise/KingKong The Son of Kong]]'' is an example, as this sequel leans even more heavily into the monster's sympathetic aspects than the [[Film/KingKong1933 original movie]] did.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* Elric of Melniboné, the titular character of Creator/MichaelMoorcock's ''Literature/TheElricSaga''. As an AntiHero who has [[DealWithTheDevil ancestral pacts with supernatural beings of varying morality]] and a sword that eats people's souls, he also qualifies as evil.
* Beowulf "Bey" Shaeffer, hero of several stories in Creator/LarryNiven's ''Literature/KnownSpace'' series, from the planet We Made It, which is populated primarily by albinistic people due to a founder effect from the original colonists. Bey has no unusual powers besides being exceptionally brave, quick-witted, and [[AcePilot one hell of a pilot]]. He's also the victim of discrimination on Earth, where he isn't allowed to have children because of his "genetic flaw". [[spoiler:He adopts instead.]]
* Moonwafer, an empathetic person gifted in counseling from ''Literature/TheMigaxCycle'' has albinism.
* In ''Literature/TheGreyKing'', the fourth book in ''Literature/TheDarkIsRising''. Bran, an albino boy, [[spoiler:turns out to be TheChosenOne and the son of KingArthur]].
* Bjørn Beltø, in Tom Egeland's Norwegian novel ''Sirkelens Ende'' pre-dates but is very similar to ''Literature/TheDaVinciCode''. Coincidentally it features an albinistic person in a positive role while the latter does the opposite.
* Billy Raven of the ''Literature/ChildrenOfTheRedKing'' series is an albino orphan seeking adoption. He also fulfills the "magical powers" aspect of this trope (he can [[TalkingToAnimals talk to animals]]), but then, so can all the other main characters. Billy also has a DisabilityImmunity: a villain named Manfred can't use his HypnoticEyes on Billy, who has poor eyesight related to his albinism. The author doesn't spell it out, but many albinos suffer rhythmatic nystagmus, where the eyes uncontrollably jerk back and forth from side to side, to the point where it is actually impossible to make traditional "eye contact." Billy also provides a bit of a {{Deconstruction}} of the "evil albino" archetype in the early books, where the villain manipulates him by promising to help him find an adoptive family. (It is implied that his albinism is part of the reason no one has ever adopted him.) Nevertheless, he was always sympathetic and genuinely liked the heroes. (Incidentally, [[spoiler:he winds up getting adopted after his final HeelFaceTurn]].)
** It's also revealed that Billy's ancestors Amadis, as well as his son Owain, are both heroic albinos much like Billy is, as well as having the same magical powers as him.
* Maple White, explorer and original discoverer of the plateau in Arthur Conan Doyle's ''Literature/TheLostWorld1912'' is described by Professor Challenger as having some characteristics of albinism.
* Serbitar, the noble warrior priest in Creator/DavidGemmell's novel ''Literature/{{Legend}}''.
* In ''Sophie and the Albino Camel'' and other books by British children's author Stephen Davies, the hero is an albino camel called Chobbal. The animal experiences rejection by his own mother so is fed and nurtured by a young African boy. The albino camel has a cheerful and generous disposition.
* Peter West, the protagonist and narrator of the novel ''Simple Man'', is depicted as having realistic eye problems. The character is the great-grandson of a fictional early 20th-century albinistic circus performer, Angelica Georgiou. It is implied in the narrative that Angelica was very beautiful, intelligent, talented and charming in her prime.
* OlderThanPrint: In ''Literature/TheShahnameh'' by the great Persian poet Ferdowsi, Zal is born an albino. His father abandons him on the mountainside Greek-style but the Simurgh, a wise and kindhearted (semi-divine) bird finds him and raises him as his own. Zal eventually leaves the Simurgh to find his place in the human world and after making up with his guilt ridden father moves on to become one of the greatest heroes in all of history in addition to being the father of THE greatest hero in all of history.
* The eponymous character in ''The Albino Knife'', part of Steve Perry's ''Literature/MatadorSeries''.
* [[Literature/AgentPendergast Aloysius X. L. Pendergast]] is an albinistic FBI agent from a series of novels written by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. [[CainAndAbel His brother,]]on the other hand...
* Albino rodent girls appear in several of Paul Kidd's furry stories. I.e. Yariim from ''Literature/TheFangsOfKaath'', Shaani from the ''TabletopGame/GammaWorld'' novel ''Red Sails in the Fallout'', and Nezumi Chiri of ''Literature/SpiritHunters''.
* Dangerous Beans from Creator/TerryPratchett's ''[[Literature/{{Discworld}} The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents]]'', as far as his people are concerned, invented ethics. He is, however, a mostly-blind pink-eyed albino ''rat''.
* The main character in the YA novel ''The Likes of Me,'' which is about a girl in early 20th century Oregon who happens to be both half-Chinese and an albino. She runs away from home and, among other adventures, joins the circus.
* In ''Robin of Sherwood'' by Michael Morpurgo, Maid Marian is an albino. She hides in Sherwood Forest with a group of outcasts because other people believed she was a witch because of her appearance, but she is firmly in the good guy's camp. [[spoiler:Her son with Robin has white hair, as well, and the framing device for the story is a boy having a dream who also has white hair--it's implied he's their descendant.]]
* Jak Lauren of the ''Literature/{{Deathlands}}'' adventure series.
* Richard Henry Benson, of the PulpMagazine series ''Literature/TheAvenger'' has a particularly strong case of LockedIntoStrangeness that bleaches not only his hair but skin as well, and gives him FrozenFace. Even his irises are nearly white, giving the Avenger a truly icy appearance.
* In a ''Literature/{{Dragonlance}}'' short story, there is an albino silver dragon. A knight thinks it is a white dragon and slays the creature (the fact that white dragons have a cold/ice breath and silver dragons have a paralyzing breath aids the confusion. The knight realizes too late that when he couldn't move, he didn't actually feel cold). After realizing he just slaughtered a being of pure good, the knight decides to care for the dragon's baby. Perhaps not actually a hero, but it is an albino creature that is completely good, killed because of the way she looks (it could have been more confusing still, as silver dragons have a cold breath weapon as well).
* Boo Radley from ''Literature/ToKillAMockingbird'', although he is often mistaken for evil, turns out to be [[TheGrotesque harmlessly ugly]] and a GentleGiant. In fact he's a MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold. It's unclear whether he is genuinely albinistic or just sickly pale from [[MadwomanInTheAttic being locked up his whole life]].
* The kid named "Dark" from ''Literature/TheChroniclesOfAncientDarkness's'' sixth book, ''Ghost Hunter''. He was rejected by his clan and now lives in the mountains with his albino raven, "Ark". They both turn out to be a great help against the BigBad.
* ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire''
** Ghost is an albino direwolf raised by Ned Stark's noble-born [[HeroicBastard illegitimate son]] Jon Snow. All the Stark children, including Jon, have a direwolf of their own and the direwolf is the sigil of House Stark. Each child shares similarities with their direwolf. The story draws comparisons between Jon Snow's illegitimacy and Ghost's albinism: they are each both a part of their respective families but are also somewhat separate from their siblings at the same time, they both mature quicker than their siblings, and they are both particularly observant.
** "Bloodraven" was a Hand of the King, spymaster and Lord Commander of the Night's Watch during his lifetime, but was considered evil for slaying his rebellious siblings and for suspected magical powers. It turns out that [[spoiler:he's been living as a Greenseer for decades among the children of the forest and is apparently more benevolent than his reputation held]].
* Pondwader from Kathleen & Michael Gear's ''Literature/{{People of the Lightning}}''. Hearteningly, he does have focus issues and is short-sighted, but he's also more of a [[TheFool lanky albino fluffball]] than heroic, despite being the protagonist.
* In ''Literature/DragonsEgg'', there is an albino named "Pink Eyes". He is especially notable because he belongs to a species of aliens about the size of a grain of rice, who all live on the surface of a neutron star, where even the laws of physics play out differently. Playing straight into the trope, he is a sickly outcast who eventually wins favor as a prophet. The scientific justification is that his eyes are sensitive to different wavelengths of light, so he can see some of the activities of the orbiting human research station.
* Urthwyte the Mighty, of the Literature/{{Redwall}} novel ''Salamandastron''. Urthwyte was portrayed as a kind and gentle badger with a special talent for forging armor.
* Creator/AnneMcCaffrey's series the ''Literature/DragonridersOfPern'' includes a nonhuman albino, the unique white dragon Ruth. Ruth is also smaller than most of his species, and his eggshell was too thick for him to successfully hatch on his own.
* Oswald, who [[spoiler:saves the day]] at the end of the ''Literature/DeptfordMice'' series.
* In Creator/DanAbnett's TabletopGame/{{Warhammer 40000}} Literature/GauntsGhosts novel ''Blood Pact'', Kolding. To be sure, having been deeply traumatized when young, he is reluctant and eccentric, but he comes through: he's a MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold.
* Several of the characters in the ''Literature/{{Fablehaven}}'' series, most notably Warren Burgess, lost their pigmentation (along with most of their brain functioning) after encounters with a revenant. Their minds were restored after the revenant's defeat, and their albinism was soon cured by a magic artifact.
* Bibwit Harte, a human version of [[Literature/AliceInWonderland the White Rabbit]], from ''Literature/TheLookingGlassWars'' by Frank Beddor. He even has big ears to go with the "rabbit" motif. Hell, his [[PunnyName name]] is an [[SignificantAnagram anagram]] of "white rabbit."
* There's Dancy Flammarion of Caitlin R. Kiernan's ''Alabaster,'' a heroic teenage monster hunter, described by the author as being a "creepy little '[[MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold Boo Radley]]' albino girl."
** ''Threshold'' makes her...much creepier, and introduces the idea that much of what she might just be a passing individual who Chase Mathews absorbed into a psychotic episode following the death of her grandparents. Because the alternative [[spoiler:is that Dancy fought, and was eaten by, Great Cthulhu, and then subsequently spat back out again as either herself or a doped up Changeling so Chance wouldn't remember blowing away a few dozen ghouls]].
* The Fool from Creator/RobinHobb's ''Literature/{{Farseer}}'' trilogy is one of these, a court jester with white skin and hair and colourless eyes, even if it's later revealed he's not 100% human.
* In the ''Literature/{{Tunnels}}'' series, protagonists Will Burrows and Cal Jerome are both albino. In general, the civilization BeneathTheEarth called the Colony highly values albinism, as it indicates direct descent from the albino Founders.
* In ''The School Mouse'' by Creator/DickKingSmith, the mouse protagonist crosses paths with an albino mouse. Initially she is terrified by him, believing him to be the ghost of her dead friend, but he actually turns out to be quite nice.
* Blagden, the white raven from the ''Literature/InheritanceCycle'', turned white BECAUSE of something heroic he did--saving an elf's life in battle. Said elf gave him the ability to talk and think, which turned his feathers white as a side effect. [[note]] Another side effect was the ability to tell the future.[[/note]] In-series, though, he doesn't do much except speak in riddles and yell "[[VerbalTic Wyrda]]."
* Philip of Macedonia, Amos's giant crocodile from ''Literature/TheKaneChronicles''.
* Any heroic Underland human in ''Literature/TheUnderlandChronicles'' is this by default.
* According to ''Literature/FantasticBeastsAndWhereToFindThem'', a certain demon called a nogtail can be driven away with pure white dogs, and so the Ministry of Magic keeps albino bloodhounds for this purpose. Not quite ''heroic'' ([[BlueAndOrangeMorality they're animals, and you can't really apply morality to them]]), but helpful at any rate.
* In ''Literature/AkataWitch'' by Creator/NnediOkorafor, the main character Sunny is one of these. Arguably could be an aversion since her albinism is not a huge deal in the plot.
* Although not a true albino, ''Literature/KikiStrike'' has pale skin, nearly-white hair and pale eyes as a result of [[spoiler:being poisoned as a child.]]
* Evadne Stephens, GadgeteerGenius and ActionGirl in ''Literature/TheExtraordinaires'' by Michael Pryor.
* In Daphne du Maurier's ''Literature/JamaicaInn'', the protagonist finds refuge from her abusive, criminal and eventually murderous uncle with the local vicar, who is explicitly an albino. He gives her valuable care and advice. [[spoiler:He turns out to be the TheChessmaster behind the crime network, to whom the uncle is TheDragon, so it is all a setup for for a subversion.]]
* Bannor of ''LightNovel/GatheringTheEnchanted'' qualifies as this.
** Although, at this point in the story all he's really done is go AxCrazy on some shooters after they killed his friends. But we're still counting him.
* In the ''Literature/JacobsLadderTrilogy'', Tristen Conn is albino. This is implied to be the result of inbreeding, as the Conn family tree includes quite a bit of incest and he was born before the advancement of medical technology allowed them to eliminate the risk of genetic defects.
* Pink Eyes from ''Literature/WarriorCats'' is the series' first ever albino cat. He's also a solid good CoolOldGuy.
* ''Literature/TheRiddleMasterTrilogy'': Astrin Ymris, a secondary character, is the land-heir of Ymris and helps the main character when he loses his memory in the first book.
* ''Franchise/TheWitcher'': Geralt of Rivia, the main character, is albino due to undergoing more intense mutations that caused total loss of pigmentation. In terms of personality, he fits the KnightInSourArmor archetype to a tee, being jaded and world-weary, but still trying to do the right thing in a CrapsackWorld.
* Creator/RudyardKipling's ''Literature/TheJungleBook'' features one of these as the titular protagonist of "The White Seal."
* Kreon from Catherine Fisher's ''Literature/TheOracleTrilogy'' qualifies. He also doubles as something of a MysteriousBacker and TheHermit.
* Silchas Ruin from the ''Literature/MalazanBookOfTheFallen'' is initially set up as a villain but ends up falling squarely into this cathegory instead. He is a [[DarkIsNotEvil Tiste Andii]], who are all midnight-skinned, but somehow, his white skin defies even the magic of their goddess Mother Dark. He is described as "the most cruel of the three sons of Mother Dark", is known as "The Betrayer" by the Tiste Edur, is often likened to a reptile, and almost razes an entire city to the ground in ''Literature/ReapersGale'' because he feels like it. However, [[AntiHero his goals are generally heroic]] and it's gradually revealed that while he's got a [[HeroWithBadPublicity bad reputation]], he was the one who actually did something during the Tiste CivilWar while his WarriorPrince brother was off clowning around in the woods, and he fights in the series' end battle on the "good" side without a second thought and against great odds. Silchas Ruin is just not very good at showing his true intentions by anything else than the actual deed.

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* The Shadow Architect (leader of the [[SpacePolice Shadow Proclamation]]) on ''Series/DoctorWho'' is an albino woman, and although the Shadow Proclamation occasionally gets in the Doctor's way, they are clearly established as a LawfulGood force. Another albino woman works for the Shadow Proclamation and looks significantly similar to the Shadow Architect, suggesting that they may be HumanAliens with albinism as a species-wide trait.
* ''Series/GameOfThrones'': Jon Snow's direwolf Ghost is an albino direwolf. The direwolf is the sigil of House Stark and the Stark children receive a direwolf each at the beginning of the series. While the direwolves belonging to Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran and Rickon are shades of black, grey, and brown, Jon's direwolf is pure white. Ghost's albinism also has heraldic significance. Unlike the other Stark children, Jon is an illegitimate son and a custom very common in Westeros is for highborn, acknowledged illegitimate children like Jon to use the heraldry of their noble-born parent's House but with the colors inverted. For Jon, this means that his personal sigil is a ''white direwolf'' on a grey field.[[note]]However, he has renounced this by joining the Night's Watch, whose arms and banners are pure black[[/note]]
* By [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy Klingon]] standards, Voq, Son of None, from ''Series/StarTrekDiscovery'' would be considered this; despite being ostracized as a freak of nature, he proves the purity of his devotion to his lord T'Kuvma and is chosen to be the "Torchbearer". TheFederation, on the other hand, would probably consider him evil, or a NobleDemon at best.

[[folder:Music]]
* "Snow", an albinistic psychic who achieves a messianic following, has his story told in ''Snow'', a concept album by progressive rock band Spock's Beard.
* Music/{{Vocaloid}} fans often interpret Ia this way. Her hair is cream colored and her skin is even lighter, her eyes are light blue, and her biggest song, ''Imagination Forest'', has an alternate version of her with red eyes and powers living alone, afraid to make friends but she is genuinely good-hearted. Her fandom portrayals vary from a quiet daydreamer girl to a highly intelligent but shy young woman who wants to break out of her shell. This is in sharp contrast to Sukone Tei and Mayu, who fans also consider albino but who have negative portrayals in the fandom. (Keep in mind there is no canon for Vocaloids.)

[[folder:Myths & Religion]]
* In the Kuna tribe of Panama, albinos are revered as children of the moon. During lunar eclipses, they fire arrows at the moon to defend it from a [[PlanetEater moon-eating]] dragon.
* Noah has been interpreted as an albino from his description in the Book of Enoch (from the Dead Sea Scrolls), where he's born with white skin and hair and considered unusual by his parents.
* Zal, a warrior from Persian mythology.
* Some interpretations of Mayari, a Philippine Moon Goddess, depict her with glowing skin and silvery hair. Being a [[OddJobGods goddess of silver]] probably contributes to the image.

* Although he began as a {{heel}}, Wrestling/TheUndertaker during his early WWF days could count as this, given his popularity with the fans.

* Madrak Ironhide from ''TabletopGame/IronKingdoms'' and ''Hordes''.

* ''TabletopGame/FreedomCity'''s ''Atlas of Earth Prime'' has Whitestone, a Tanzanian albino superhero who fights the prejudices and superstition his home country has regarding albinism.
* In Magic the Gathering, Ajani, one of the members of the Gatewatch, is albino.

[[folder:Video Games]]
* Cyrus, the clone-son of villain Caulder/Stolos in ''VideoGame/AdvanceWars: Days of Ruin''. [[spoiler:Same goes for Isabella/Catleia, an OppositeSexClone.]]
* Many of the protagonists of the ''Franchise/{{Castlevania}}'' series, most prominently Alucard.
* Celestial-blooded characters in ''VideoGame/NeverwinterNights'' games and fan modules almost always show up with white or silver hair, very pale skin, and golden eyes.
* Setzer of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI'' is albino, even though most of his game sprites just give him light Caucasian skin. If you've seen his original [[http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/e/e8/Ff6_amano_setzer.png character designs]], though, it's definitely white. For ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'', they redesigned his character and made him a non-albino, though.
* The standard appearance for the [[CharacterCustomization customizable protagonist]] of ''VideoGame/FireEmblemFates'', whom also serves as the page image. While you can tweak their hair color, their pale skin and red eyes are locked in.
* The Echani as a species in ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic'' all have pale skin, silver-white hair, and silver eyes. They're members in good standing of the Republic, and are generally extremely loyal, though their alignment depends on whomever they're currently loyal to.
* ''VideoGame/DeusEx'''s J.C. Denton can be an albino, but his appearance is semi-customizable anyway.
* Kevin Smith, the silent, knife wielding assassin with the power to become invisible at will. One of the seven Smith personalities you control in Creator/Suda51's ''VideoGame/{{killer7}}''.
* Haseo from the video games ''[[VideoGame/DotHackGU .hack//G.U.]]'' has white hair and red eyes and is the hero.
* From ''VideoGame/CaveStory'', Curly Brace and the player. Sort of. [[spoiler:They're both RidiculouslyHumanRobots]] with completely white skin (and in Curly's case, blonde hair).
* While not stated as an albino outright, Loue from ''VideoGame/AWitchsTale'' definitely applies to the trope, as he's a vampire.
* [[spoiler:Dr. Strangelove]] in ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolidPeaceWalker'' is albino, but all this gives her is the high sensitivity to sunlight that led to her playing outside at night when she was a child, leading to her fascination with space.
* The Ralts line from ''VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire'', despite having green hair, actually all have pale, white skin, and large red eyes (Ralts' are less obvious because its eyes are constantly covered by its hair).
* The Necromancer in ''VideoGame/DiabloII'' is at first glance one of those magical albinos, but TPTB suggest that he gained his pale skin and bleached hair from years of studying in tombs, crypts, and other [[DiseaseBleach dark and sickly]] places. Or maybe getting [[SkunkStripe scared silly]] is an occupational hazard.
* In ''VideoGame/Fallout2'', Goris was an intelligent, kind but strong companion who wore loose-fitting, but all-encompassing robes to protect himself from the sun. [[spoiler:He's also a deathclaw, so it's likely that wasn't the only reason for the robes.]]
* Ranger Ghost from ''VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas'' is [[GoodIsNotNice not very friendly]], but still shows concern about what happened to Nipton and is sympathetic to the people of the Mojave.
** [[PlayerCharacter You]] can also be one should you so choose: just create a Courier with light grey hair, blue eyes, pale skin... [[TruthInTelevision and a low Perception]].
* In the original ''VideoGame/{{Fable|I}}'', choosing the good path for your character results in a very white, glowing hero.
* Chipp Zanuff from ''VideoGame/GuiltyGear''. Though he started out as a drug addict and common criminal, he learned the ways of justice from his ninja master and by the time of the latest game is a certified good guy. As a bonus, he is the second non-Asian character in the series to be able to use ki magic.
* Sylvi from ''[[VideoGame/GameOfThrones Telltale's Game of Thrones]]'' is a good guy as far as wildlings go, and is very protective of her brother, [[spoiler:Cotter]]. Her village saw her white hair as a bad omen, and her mother left her in the forest to die as a baby, but her brother recovered her and left his village with her and they seem to have been looking out for each other ever since.
* Geralt of Rivia, the PlayerCharacter and protagonist [[VideoGame/TheWitcher in]] [[VideoGame/TheWitcher2AssassinsOfKings all]] [[VideoGame/TheWitcher3WildHunt three]] of ''The Witcher'' games. Just like in the books, he pretends to be an uncaring PunchClockHero who's only out to kill monsters for money, but the truth is he's a KnightInSourArmor who will often let his conscience decide things.
* As a WhiteBunny with red eyes, Marquis de Hoto from ''VideoGame/TheNightOfTheRabbit'' certainly has the appropriate look.
* Impa from ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' has been portrayed this way starting with ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]]'', where she had white hair despite being middle-aged at the oldest, red eyes, and a fierce loyalty to Princess Zelda and the Kingdom of Hyrule. This is [[PlanetOfCopyhats extended to the entire Sheikah tribe]] in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild Breath of the Wild]]'', where they all have MysticalWhiteHair, though their eyes tend more toward a muted maroon or mahogany instead of the vivid crimson Impa had in previous games. The villainous [[EvilCounterpart Yiga Clan]] offshoot of the Sheikah are presumably their evil counterparts, but we never see them underneath their masks and robes.
* From ''Franchise/TheElderScrolls'' series' backstory comes Pelinal [[MeaningfulName Whitestrake]], the legendary 1st Era hero of mankind/[[FantasticRacism racist]] [[TheBerserker berserker]]. Believed to have been a [[EternalHero Shezarrine]], [[GodInHumanForm physical incarnations]] of the spirit of the [[GodIsDead "dead" creator god]] Lorkhan (known to the Imperials as "[[IHaveManyNames Shezarr]]"), Pelinal came to [[FounderOfTheKingdom St. Alessia]] to serve as her [[PhysicalGod divine champion]] in the war against the [[AbusivePrecursors Ayleids]]. Pelinal was known to have white hair despite his young appearance, though it was [[BloodSplatteredWarrior often stained brown with elfblood]]. To the [[OurElvesAreBetter races of Mer (Elves)]], he was instead evil.
* Rean Schwarzer from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsOfColdSteel'' is an interesting case where the manifestation of his white hair is only when he accesses his SuperMode but otherwise has naturally black hair. But he plays this trope straight by ''Cold Steel IV'', where his hair permanently changes to white [[spoiler:due to overusing his powers at the climax of ''Cold Steel III''.]]

[[spoiler:In the epilogue, she doesn't do too well on the tropical island thanks to her weakness to sun, though mostly just enough to make her uncomfortable.]]

* Abbey, the AntiHero protagonist of ''Webcomic/{{Gnoph}}''.
* [[NoNameGiven The neighbour]] from ''Webcomic/FlakyPastry''.
* Lucy from ''Webcomic/BittersweetCandyBowl''. As an albino cat, she is completely white with ''blue'' eyes.
* Angels in ''Webcomic/SlightlyDamned'' may count. They're naturally very pale and have white hair. One, in particular, is one of the main characters. [[spoiler:Kieri Suizahn. kee-AIR-ee sue-EE-zahn]]
* Paul from the ''Videogame/EarthBound'' fan comic ''Webcomic/{{Earthfelt}}'' applies to this, but he dyes his hair black.
* ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'''s Derse-dreamer protagonist family contains some very odd eye colors--red (Dave), lavender (Rose), pink (Roxy), and amber (Dirk). Combined with the fact they're all drawn with white hair [[note]]although it's worth noting that all humans in ''Homestuck'' are portrayed with either black or white hair[[/note]], this leads to a very common fan interpretation of albinism (especially with Dave and Roxy). This has been [[WordOfGod endorsed by the creator]] as at least a reasonable deduction from the facts, if not exclusive canon.
* Eugene Clockman from ''Webcomic/ComethTheHour''. Although, it can also be subverted considering his split personality disorder.
* Eniko Maragos from ''Webcomic/{{Holystone}}''. She's [[TheWonka odd]] and impulsive, but also a warm-hearted ruler and mother.
* Mori of ''Webcomic/TheDragonDoctors'' was attacked by a strange metafictional demon that kills you by devouring the story of your life. This took the form of it asking her questions about her past and erasing her memory of the answer; when it got to "what ethnicity are you?" she couldn't answer and all the color was drained from her body, leaving her the color of paper. It seems to be permanent, too.
* ''Webcomic/LeifAndThorn'': Pascentia, one of the knights, who also seems to be [[http://leifandthorn.com/comic/sword-dancers-423/ good at everything]].
* ''Webcomic/LovelyLovecraft'': In the Dreamlands, we see a brief glimpse of an unusually pale Night Gaunt among Phil's followers. [[WordOfGod The author]] confirmed that that particular Night Gaunt is intended to have albinism.
* Giant, AKA Prince Varka, from ''[[Webcomic/WizardAndGiant Wizard & Giant]]''. He's got a temper, loves violence, and is an apathetic anarchist like his husband Wizard, but he genuinely cares about the people around him. Like everyone from the sunless land of Asura, he has white hair, pink eyes and very pale skin.
* Silver the Hedgehog is portrayed with red eyes in ''Webcomic/SonicTheComicOnline'' instead of [[AdaptationDyeJob gold eyes like in the games]]. Despite his name, his fur [[HairColorDissonance looks more]] white than pure silver. Silver is from seventy years into the future in a world ravaged by [[PersonOfMassDestruction Super Sonic]] (known to him as "Ilbis"). He and G.U.N. had been fighting Super Sonic for years to no success. Silver ends up travelling back in time to stop Super Sonic before he became [[PhysicalGod too powerful]] to defeat. Silver has PsychicPowers and is [[VagueAge presumably]] [[KidHero fourteen]] like his game counterpart.
* Alice, the main protagonist of ''WebComic/JuniorSquad''.
* In ''WebComic/YokokasQuest'', in a [[FourthWallMailSlot Q&A strip]], Yokoka explains that she has white hair because she's special! Mao explains that it's a type of albinism.

[[folder:Web Original]]
* Phantasia Celeste, eponymous heroine of the ''WebOriginal/{{Phantasia}}'' prose/webcomics story. Although she may belong in the MysticalWhiteHair category because she's a [[TheFairFolk fairy]] rather than human.
* ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YGFmHumySo White Lightning: The Albino Superhero]]'' is a mock movie trailer about a crime fighting albino girl who cleans up the mean street of New York City.
* Ruby from ''Roleplay/RubyQuest'' might be this. She is referred to once as being white and is based on a character from ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'' who is explicitly albino, but it's never said whether ''Ruby Quest'''s Ruby is albino, and the black-and-white artwork makes it hard to tell.

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* Mr. Whiskers from ''WesternAnimation/BrandyAndMrWhiskers''. For a suitably loose definition of hero, perhaps; although his heart is undeniably in the right place.
* Zero, a girl from the French animated series ''WesternAnimation/InvisibleNetworkOfKids''. She's a bit unusual in that there's nothing magical about her, she's just a kung-fu bruiser.
* Ghost, the albino jaguar from ''WesternAnimation/JanaOfTheJungle''.
* The [[NobleDemon debatably heroic]] WesternAnimation/PinkyAndTheBrain, given that they're laboratory rats bred to be albino.
* Sh'lainn Blaze in ''WesternAnimation/RoswellConspiracies'' is one of the show's main heroes. She's also an alien [[OurBansheesAreLouder Banshee]] and a bit of a [[{{Goth}} Goth Girl.]] With an Irish accent.
* Slyly the fox from ''WesternAnimation/RudolphTheRedNosedReindeer1998'' is this mixed with JerkWithAHeartOfGold.
* Drew Saturday, of the ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretSaturdays'', has literally snow white skin and hair. She is one of the BadassFamily PowerTrio.
* Pete [[MeaningfulName White]] in ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers''. An albinistic computer scientist and friend of Dr. Venture from his college years, Pete runs "Conjectural Technologies" with Master Billy Quizboy, Boy Genius (who is not actually a "boy" but rather a short hydrocephalic man). It should be noted that Pete is [[GoodIsNotNice a bit of an asshole]], and an [[EruditeStoner ex-cokehead]]. Still, he can be considered heroic [[CrapsackWorld by the standards of the show.]] Doc Hammer, one of the co-creators of the show, who lent his own look to the character, actually has a variant on albinism.

* ''Manga/{{Jormungand}}'':
* ''Franchise/KagerouProject'':
* ''Anime/YuGiOh'':

* Sigil from ''ComicBook/ShamansTears'' (and its spin-off ''ComicBook/BarSinister''), who is a human/vampire bat hybrid.

* ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire''

* Zal, a warrior from Persian mythology.
* Some interpretations of Mayari, a Philippine Moon Goddess, depict her with glowing skin and silvery hair. Being a [[OddJobGods goddess of silver]] probably contributes to the image.

[[folder:Visual Novels]]
* In ''VisualNovel/GrisaiaNoRakuen'' [[spoiler:Kazuki]] takes up a leadership position within the group, without which their efforts would have been doomed. [[spoiler:Kazuki]] contrasts the [[spoiler:clone of Yuuji]] in that while they have the same condition, she does her best even if she seems amoral at times. [[spoiler:In the epilogue, she doesn't do too well on the tropical island thanks to her weakness to sun, though mostly just enough to make her uncomfortable.]]
* Zen in ''VisualNovel/MysticMessenger'' is albino. He's also very chivalrous, caring, protective, and thoughtful, especially if you're playing on his route.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Animation]]
* Cielle from ''WebAnimation/BrokenSaints'', while somewhat unsettling at first, is very definitely a positive character.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Webcomics]]
* Sleet from ''Webcomic/DarkWings'' is the only known [[OurDragonsAreDifferent wyvern]] who is actively good, the others all being either [[TheEmpire Veslian]] EliteMooks or else squirreled away in their [[HiddenElfVillage hidden colonies]].
[[/folder]]

Billy also has a DisabilityImmunity: a villain named Manfred can't use his HypnoticEyes on Billy, who has poor eyesight related to his albinism. The author doesn't spell it out, but many albinos suffer rhythmatic nystagmus, where the eyes uncontrollably jerk back and forth from side to side, to the point where it is actually impossible to make traditional "eye contact." Billy also provides a bit of a {{Deconstruction}} of the EvilAlbino archetype in the early books, where the villain manipulates him by promising to help him find an adoptive family. The inverse of the EvilAlbino, the Heroic Albino is a good guy who has albinism.
