This entire thing belongs better on Drink Based Characterization. Some of the examples are already there.

* Various examples from Franchise/StarTrek:
** Scotty and his scotch. When he pops back up in the 24th century he chastises a bartender in Ten Forward for serving him synthehol.
---> Scotty: Laddie, I was drinking scotch a hundred years before you were born. And I can tell you that whatever this is, it is definitely not scotch.
** Picard, befitting a distinguished gentleman and intellectual, prefers Earl Grey tea. And though he doesn't do it too often, he comes from a family of winemakers and will break open a bottle of Chateau Picard for special occasions.
** Worf becomes fond of prune juice, dubbing it "a warrior's drink", and also highlighting the duality of his Klingon nature and Human upbringing.
** Sisko prefers Klingon Raktajino with jacarine peel every morning. When he doesn't order it one time, Major Kira wonders if something is wrong.
** Chief O'Brien takes his coffee "Jamaican blend, double strong, double sweet", alluding to the hard hours he puts in keeping DS9 operational.
** Janeway is a coffee addict - black, no cream, no sugar. An EstablishingCharacterMoment for her in the second episode of the series was when she realized that a nearby nebula could provide energy to help fuel a depleted Voyager. When the nebula turns out to be a life form, she's somewhat disappointed at not having her morning cup.
---> Janeway: There's coffee in that nebula.

Even before we get deep into the story, or sometimes afterwards, an early clue about a character can be presented by how they like their food or drink. Sometimes, the food choice is symbolic, representing something about their personality, affiliation, or true nature. Other times, it's simply a character tic that makes the person more memorable.
