* ''VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins'' - A female PC can be this for Allistair. Subverted for characters who fall for Morrigan; she doesn't ''want'' to win, even if she develops feelings for the PC.

** KeyVisualArts did the same thing in ''VisualNovel/{{AIR}}'', except the first girl Yukito meets ''does'' turn out to be the same girl that the prologue talks about. (Not the narrator, though, considering she's a) his mother, b) the reincarnation of his ancestor, c) dead.)

* Arguably, this is a convention of just about any story which revolves around romance. During the opening chapter, the first character of preferred gender our protagonist meets and is attracted to is almost guaranteed to be the character s/he ends up with. (This might be First ''Boy'' Wins if the viewpoint character is female.)

* In ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'', the two main contenders for "winning" the title character both have differing claims to being the "first" girl - so while this will inevitably be played straight by the letter, it will be averted in spirit (There's no point to "first girl wins" if it happens ''whichever'' girl wins). One contender is the first girl to be introduced in the ''manga'' and the first to have the main character express interest in ''her'' in both media; the other is the first to express interest in ''him'' and gets a just-as-early and more pronounced introduction, but only in the ''anime''. Ultimately, [[spoiler:it is Hinata that ends up with Naruto in the epilogue]].

She had also assigned [[NinjaMaid Kanae Katagiri]] to Ryuuken as his personal bodyguard when Kanae and Ryuuken were both very [[ChildhoodFriendRomance young children]]. Ryuuken and his cousin were [[BlueBlood socially compatible]] but not [[NoSparks romantically compatible]] whereas Ryuuken and Kanae had a lot of UnresolvedSexualTension but were [[UptownGuy socially incompatible]]. When the viability of the ArrangedMarriage is ruined [[spoiler:by Aizen]], [[BroodingBoyGentleGirl Ryuuken]] and [[TheLostLenore Kanae]] are able to MarryForLove.

* This will happen in FireEmblemAwakening if a Female Avatar marries Prince Chrom, or a Male Avatar marries Princess Lissa.

* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist''- Winry wins. It probably helps that Ed really has more important things to do than be in a relationship, and he seems to be [[SingleTargetSexuality Winry-Sexual.]]

* In ''VideoGame/{{Persona 3}}'', the player invokes this by completing the Lovers arcana [[LevelUpAtIntimacy5 Social Link]] -- aka choosing [[spoiler: Yukari Takeba]] as girlfriend.

* Dan Shive of ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'' is rather fond of this, all of the major relationships at the moment are examples of the first girl winning [[spoiler: if you count Ellen's birth taking Susan out of the picture]].

* ''RanmaOneHalf'' manages to invoke both this and LastGirlWins. Akane is the first fiancee introduced in the series, serves as the primary love interest, is considered the feminine half of the OfficialCouple, and takes up the most screentime of any of the fiancee brigade. Ukyo, while introduced to Ranma first in the series timeline-wise, shows up pretty late story-wise, and is relegated to being the UnluckyChildhoodFriend. Shampoo shows up earlier in the backstory than Akane, is the second fiancee to appear in the series, and winds up acting more like a StalkerWithACrush than an actual fiancee. Anyway,''Ranma'' never is confused about them and [[spoiler:he confess his feelings for Akane when he thinks she's dead]], the series does end with his wedding to Akane being crashed by his other fiancees/stalkers.

* In ''UnicornCity'' Marsha is quite obvious from her first interaction with Voss.

* Played with in ''DailyLifeWithMonsterGirl'', [[SnakePeople Miia]] insists that since she was the first to move in with Kimihito, she's got dibs. [[OurCentaursAreDifferent Cerea]] quickly tells her to stuff it.

* In ''{{Persona 3}}'', the player invokes this by completing the Lovers arcana [[LevelUpAtIntimacy5 Social Link]] -- aka choosing [[spoiler: Yukari Takeba]] as girlfriend.

* Similarly, in ''{{Persona 4}}'', the player can invoke it by choosing to make the Chariot arcana [[LevelUpAtIntimacy5 Social Link]] romantic -- aka choosing [[spoiler: Chie Satonaka]].

* ''SailorMoon'': Mamoru and Usagi take the trope to the extreme, as they met in their previous life.

* In ''Manga/{{Naruto}}:'' Possibly Sakura. She was the first girl introduced into the series and the first girl Naruto ever showed romantic interest in. Not only that, but their relationship is very well-developed late in the series ...

* ''Manga/InuYasha'': Inuyasha and Kikyou had vowed to marry before being torn apart by [[BigBad Naraku]]. Kagome heals Inuyasha's heart, but their romance is complicated by the resurrection of Kikyou by dark magic. Being officially obliged to both women, Inuyasha cannot choose between them and wishes he could have both. Eventually, the tortured Kikyou is able to rest in peace, allowing Inuyasha and Kagome to move on together. However, while Kagome and Kikyou are two different women, Kagome is Kikyou's reincarnated soul resulting in a strange combination of FirstGirlWins and SecondLove at the same time.

* ''Manga/InuYasha'': Inuyasha and Kikyou promised to marry before being torn apart by Naraku. Fifty years after Kikyou's death, Inuyasha meets Kagome, a girl thrust backwards in time by five hundred years, and they're well on the road to bonding when Kikyou is resurrected against her will by dark magic. Obliged to both women, Inuyasha is unable to choose between them and wishes he could have both. In the end, they're able to help the tortured Kikyou rest in peace, allowing Inuyasha and Kagome to move on with each other. Kagome, however, is Kikyou's reincarnation, meaning that while they're two different people they're the same soul making this an interesting combination of FirstGirlWins and SecondLove at the same time.
Played with. In both the manga and anime, Kikyou is the first girl introduced. She is also the first girl we see with Inuyasha (despite the fact they're fighting), and we later find out [[spoiler: the two had a prior relationship established before Naraku tricked them]]. Even at the very end, Inuyasha still declares his love for Kikyou. The back and forth manner of Rumiko Takahashi could honestly lead a person to be unsure of whom Inuyasha will pick, if he picks at all. Inuyasha's feelings for Kagome and the fact Kikyou is essentially undead works against Kikyou, but Inuyasha doesn't seem to care that she is made of bones and dirt. Kagome ultimately wins, but kind of by default; since [[spoiler: Kikyou ends up dying [[DeaderThanDead for real]]]]. LastGirlWins doesn't qualify because for awhile we're lead to believe that Kikyou remains dead after the opening sequence. [[BackFromTheDead She doesn't]], ultimately becoming both a rival in love and a major character.
** Complicated further by the fact that Kagome is Kikyo's reincarnation, so it's hard to define if she's the first girl or the second girl or the...first-and-a-half girl?

** The trend continues in ''TheLegendOfKorra'', [[spoiler: with Mako ultimately realizing that he was in love with Korra, who he met first in episode two, rather than Asami, who he met and started dating in episode four.]] Averted with Korra herself, however; she meets Mako's brother Bolin first, but never returns his romantic interest. Once he got over his initial heartbreak, he seemed to handle it fairly well. [[spoiler: ... And then, at the end of the second season, [[ShipSinking Mako and Korra break up]] and decide to be JustFriends.]]

* ''Film/ScottPilgrimVsTheWorld'' [[spoiler: Averted as the original ending to the movie was Scott getting back together with Knives, but test audiences didn't approve.]]

* ''MahouSenseiNegima''. There are three, count 'em, ''three'' "First Girls." Chronologically, Anya is the very first, being a childhood friend and appearing in the first page of the manga--but she then disappeared for a hundred chapters. Then we've got Asuna, a standard {{Tsundere}} type who seems like the traditional love interest. However, from the beginning, its unclear whether she cares for Negi as a brother-type figure or something else. And finally Nodoka (the CovertPervert bookworm). She is the first girl to show an interest in Negi. She's also the first to confess to Negi. However, at the end this trope is subverted since it seems that none of them "win". Negi tells Asuna the girl he likes and it isn't her (not that she cares), Anya wasn't around when Asuna told Negi to confess to the girl he liked right away, and the epilogue explicitly states that it wasn't Nodoka.

** Although this turns out to be a half-subversion in the last episode, when you consider [[spoiler:Akito met HotScientist Inez Fressange way back in the prologue [[TimeTravel as a little girl, Ai-chan]]]]. His [[VictoriousChildhoodFriend childhood friendship]] with Yurika probably still counts, though. [[spoiler: Still lampshaded, when Yurika was briefly shown as [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy willing to let go of Akito]] for Inez's sake when she learnt the truth, but Inez herself talked Yurika out of it.]]
*** It's not a subversion at all, he still met Yurika first. [[spoiler:Shortly after Akito meets her, Ai Boson Jumps 20 or so years into the past and becomes the the woman we see today through TheSlowPath.]]

* ''LoveHina'': Naru Narusegawa is the first girl introduced, and despite [[DefrostingIceQueen Aoyama Motoko]], [[ShrinkingViolet Maehara Shinobu]], [[GeniusDitz Otohime Mutsumi]] and even his adopted sister [[BrotherSisterIncest Kanako]] [[UnwantedHarem also liking]] Urashima Keitaro, the pairing of Naru and Keitaro is inevitable. Additionally, Keitaro met Naru long before any of the others (except Mutsumi) as a child. She is [[spoiler: the girl he made the Tokyo U promise with long ago]].
