* Cortana from the eponymous level in Halo 3. You hear her deranged cries for help throughout the mission. Although most of her lines are anything but monotone she says, "This is UNSC AI Serial Number CTN 0452-9. I am a monument to all your sins." What makes this especially creepy is that the "monument to all your sins" is something the Gravemind said in Halo 2, implying that he has a great deal of control over her.

Come on, Agent Smith was anything but monotone.

* Agent Smith in ''Film/TheMatrix'' films. "As you can see, we've had our eyes on you for some time now, Mr. Anderson." He also stresses his words oddly and unnaturally, almost like a synthesiser. His exchange with Morpheus about how humans were not really mammals, but a disease, was genuinely creepy.

* Mr. Freeze on ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries'' never really deviated from his cold, chilling (no pun intended) monotone, providing juxtaposition to the emotional depth of the character. Needless to say, it was effective. WordOfGod has it that his voice actor, Michael Ansara, struggled with this element of the role -- his instinct was to ''act'', and he had to be constantly reminded to be flat and robotic.

** At the ''BatmanTheAnimatedSeries'' episode ''[[Recap/BatmanTheAnimatedSeriesTheClockKing The Clock King]]'' the eponymous villain always talks naturally , without any emotions to display except maybe annoyance. So, he can deliver a YouHaveNoChanceToSurvive speech without any emotional intonation. Justified because he is TheSociopath and TheStoic: He has no emotions to display.

* Interestingly, Darth Vader talks like this in the first Hungarian dubbing of ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack'', even keeping up the emotionless tone during his dramatic confrontation with Luke. Nostalgic fans often cite this as their favorite Vader voice, but others claim it came off more as "reading a script" than "acting".
