How much control a creator has over casting when it comes to adaptations of their work is highly variable. In some cases, the adaptation is [[SelfAdaptation done by the creators themselves]], in which case they have full control over it. In other, less fortunate cases, they end up not being in favor of casting choices but not being able to do anything about it, either.

A novelist choosing the lead actor of a movie based on their novel would be an example.
