** In canon, Rhino's attempt to cheer up Bolt once the dog realizes he has no superpowers includes the observation "And who foiled his [Dr. Calico's] plan to infiltrate the Olympics with gymnastic cyborgs?" The pre-canon fic "The Pilot" presents the first episode in some detail, with the plot in part involving Dr. Calico's having created said cyborgs for this purpose, the better to facilitate taking over the world. Bolt blasts them away with laser eye beams in a blaze of pyrotechnics.
--->Dr. Calico had somehow discovered the brilliant scientist's ability to transform the family pooch into an invincible fighting machine and had decided to shanghai him to create a platoon of gymnastic cyborgs, the better to infiltrate the Olympics and achieve a stepping stone to world dominance.

** In "The Clouds," part of the initial interaction between homeless bum Soapy and his future wife duplicates what happens when Bolt and Mittens first meet in canon. When Soapy crudely propositions her and says "Yeah, I’m really scared now" after the woman takes offense, she grabs him by the coat lapels and slams him hard back into the side of the diner, shouting "You should be!" She then drags him off to the police station by his scarf, though they later find common ground while conversing at the station house -- and by the story's conclusion they have moved in together with a summer wedding upcoming. It's also {{Foreshadowing}}, given that Bolt and Mittens become lovers in the fic series.

The first is when Doug explains that he [[spoiler: used his hacking skills to duplicate his friends' powers in the Danger Room]] to symbolise that, while he knows his powers aren't the most combat-relevant, he also knows he has a team he can rely on, and Professor X gets a chill of premonition. On a lighter note, he then comments that if he'd [[spoiler: copied Warlock's powers, complete with cosmetic enhancement]], he'd have looked really weird. In the comics, Cypher is killed in ''Comicbook/NewMutants'' #60, and subsequently sort-of resurrected as "Douglock".

* ''Film/IronMan1'':
** Ho Yinsen mentions to Tony Stark that they met once before at a conference in Bern, Switzerland. ''Film/IronMan3'' begins with a flashback to 1999 (nine years before the events of ''Iron Man'') that shows that initial meeting.
** Also, towards the climax, Colonel Rhodes briefly considers taking one of the Iron Man suits, before shaking his head and saying "Next time, baby." [[spoiler:As in the comics, Rhodes takes one of the suits, and becomes War Machine, in [[Film/IronMan2 the very next movie.]]]]
