* In ''Theatre/CrossRoad'', Teresa, Niccolo Paganini's mother is this. From the earliest scenes, she shows a remarkable ability to convince people of things. But Niccolo has made a DealWithTheDevil, and one of the conditions is that he can't play for anyone else besides that devil, Amduscias. When his mother comes to see his concert, he likely can't resist playing for her. At the concert, Amduscias sits next to Teresa. He asks her why she doesn't brag more about her famous son. Calmly, she tells him that he doesn't understand, because he's a demon. She's seen him before (it is said that everyone encounters him once), and recognized him. She also tells him that Niccolo "won't lose" to him. The scene shows her strength, but it's also heartbreaking -- Amduscias might be a devil, but he does care for Niccolo, and Niccolo has no regrets about their contract.

She's especially hard on her own children, but the members of the Order of the Phoenix know all about her wrath as well. Especially evident in ''Literature/HarryPotterAndTheOrderOfThePhoenix''; "Mrs. Weasley was marching across the yard, scattering chickens, and for a short, plump, kind-faced woman, it was remarkable how much she looked like a saber-toothed tiger." To wit, one of the most famous lines of the series--partially due to the PrecisionFStrike BreakingPointSwearing and partially due to its awesomeness...

*** Ultimate Aunt May takes it a step further post-Ultimatum when she not only takes in Johnny Storm and Bobby Drake (in addition to Gwen Stacy who'd been living with the Parkers for a while), she gets them into Peter's school and sets a moratorium on super-heroing unless she gives the boys permission. [[spoiler:And when Peter dies, she gives ''Captain America'' a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech (complete with ArmorPiercingSlap) so strong that Steve Rogers (who was every bit as determined as he was an AdaptationalJerkass) decided to quit being a superhero for good (only returning to deal with 616!Galactus trying to eat the planet... which ended up being a DyingMomentOfAwesome).]]
