* AluminumChristmasTrees: The DPRK having gas chambers in the world of the Provisional Authority of Korea may at first sound unrealistic, [[https://www.theguardian.com/world/2004/feb/01/northkorea until you realize that this is based on a real life action of the North Korean regime]].

* ForeignRulingClass: Provisional Authority of Korea is led by administrators who are foreign generals appointed by majority of head of states of occupying nations.

** In the ''War Has Changed'' universe, the Republic of South Africa fractured violently in a civil war in 1984 and split into breakaway ethnostates (described as [[UsefulNotes/TheYugoslavWars Yugoslavia]] [[UpToEleven on steroids]]). Pretoria, Jo'burg and Durban were nuked during the civil war as a last resort on the behalf of the Apartheid government. The resultant Republic of Louisiana (formed from the southern half of the Purchase territory and most of Texas) has since involved into a prosperous nation that was the last to abolish slavery and only gave full rights to black people in the 1970s (and still represses them in most places). Its government is headed by an executive triumvirate whose members are elected on alternating years by different means -- one is appointed by the unicameral Congress, one is elected by the state legislatures, and one is directly elected by nationwide vote. Meanwhile, a map of this timeline shows that the Southwest is still part of Mexico, and the Pacific Northwest is part of Canada.

* FallenStatesOfAmerica: The United States in the world of the Guantanamo Regime crumbles after the tyrannical PresidentEvil Edward Butler worsens TheWarOnTerror by indiscriminately bombing the Middle East and nuking Mecca and Medina, and violently putting down opposition to his rule which prompted the American people to revolt against the Butler regime. What is left of the U.S. is Butler's Guantanamo Regime in all but name while the former states in the mainland have joined the North American Union.

* TheWarOnTerror: The 9/11 attacks in the world of the Guantanamo Regime has Al Qaeda successfully destroying the White House and killing the Vice President. History goes almost similar to our own except that Syria was also invaded and Hillary Clinton was elected in 2008. The conflict was exacerbated in 2011 when another terrorist attack happened on the anniversary of 9/11 in which Clinton and other important political figures were killed by mustard gas. This led to a more violent and extreme version of the Tea Party movement and allowed the Islamophobic Edward Butler to assume the Presidency and indiscriminately bomb Islamic nations, even nuking Mecca and Medina. This in turn caused the downfall of the United States and many Muslim countries unforgivingly (and understandably) loathed America and the West.
