Cool Pet is now a disambig

* CoolPet: Anfisa, a monkey. She arrives to the town on an American ship, but they can't afford to let her stay on board further, so a sailor gives her to Vera's father.

* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Subverted with Anfisa, who is fond enough of bananas but not as much as everyone expects. In one story, it nearly ruins a biology lesson (where the teacher expects Anfisa to quickly snatch a banana, while instead Vera does it), and in another, the narrator lampshades she prefers coconuts.

''About Vera and Anfisa'' (Russian: Про Веру и Анфису, Pro Veru i Anfisu) is a 1985 children's book by Eduard Uspensky. It is a collection of SliceOfLife short stories about a five-year-old girl Vera and her NonHumanSidekick, a monkey called Anfisa; the stories are set in a small town on the Volga and usually take place either at Vera's home, in kindergarten or at school where her parents work.

!! The book contains examples of:

* CompositeCharacter: InUniverse. When the school staff stage a production of ''Literature/TheThreeMusketeers'', the Queen and Constance are merged into a single character.
* ClassPet: Since Vera spends most of the week in kindergarten, Anfisa is the TeamPet for her whole kindergarten group.
* CoolPet: Anfisa, a monkey. She arrives to the town on an American ship, but they can't afford to let her stay on board further, so a sailor gives her to Vera's father.
* EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys: From the start. The parents note how Vera has grown much more responsible after taking Anfisa in.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: Anfisa is fascinated with shiny things, so she loves the crystal vase she gets for her third place in the art competition.
* MischiefMakingMonkey: Anfisa is relatively well-behaved, but she can also slip into this (for instance, pouring the contents of a dustbin into a bowl of soup).
* NearlyNormalAnimal: Anfisa falls into the "almost normal" category, sometimes showing UnexpectedlyHumanPerception.
* PushedInFrontOfTheAudience: Anfisa accidentally gets onstage during ''The Three Musketeers'' because she hides the diamond studs in her mouth. The actors have no choice but to hurriedly think up a CanonForeigner monkey.
* ShowWithinAShow: The New Year performance of ''The Three Musketeers''.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Anfisa is often treated as a human kid, being allowed to go to kindergarten with Vera and to participate in a children's art competition.
