* Meta-example. David Ayer's reason for [[http://archives.relevantmagazine.com/culture/film/furys-director-explains-films-theology including the character of Boyd "Bible" Swan]], so he could show a character whose faith was his greatest strength and the other crewmen don't mock or treat him as the ButtMonkey. Even more heartwarming when you consider Ayer himself is a Christian.

But after his [[FriendshipMoment conversation with]] [[NewMeat Norman]] in which he [[PetTheDog apologises to him]] [[TookALevelInKindness and humbles himself by admitting]] [[TookALevelInKindness how much more he thinks of Norman than of himself or the others]], [[BigBrotherInstinct he never again mistreats him]] but utterly opposite, he ''watches his back''. Shown neatly, and movingly in these two lines about rushing away from duty but also overwhelming odds, and [[CharacterDevelopment about surviving the brutally difficult fight to come for as long as possible]] , unlike his earlier stupid overview of the grease gun:
