** She did say that she thought he knew it was just escapism. When they met, she told him that she was under the impression that they treated traveling similarly - that their travel lives were totally separate from their home lives.

** She's also revealed at the end to be a rather [[ItsAllAboutMe selfish and empathetically deficient person]], so it's not out of character for her not to realize that what Ryan was asking of her signified a deeper emotional investment on his part.

* Just what kind of people-related professional dismisses a suicide threat that easily? Admittedly, Ryan deals with all kind of frustrated, angry and devastated people, but is suicide threat such a common occasion among them that he just came to treat it like "that's what they all say"? Hell, he gave that old guy a brilliant motivational speech, reminded him of his forgotten dream and offered him a solution that probably saved him from a death wish, but when he was told "I'm gonna kill myself" in the face, and he didn't even appoint a consultation with a psychologist or said ''anything'' in the manner of "the world doesn't end with your layoff"?
** Another thing of interest to me: Did Ryan ''really'' not remember that lady, so calmly saying that she was going to jump off a bridge? It's hard to tell. But he seemed to me to have an "oh, shit" look on his face when he was told the news.
** I thought he was clearly lying about that, either to mask his guilt for brushing it off, to avoid possibly getting into trouble for it, or both.
*** This troper took it as A) Yes, it's fairly common for Ryan that people say they'll kill themselves, and the straight-forward, almost teasing way she said it made it seem to Ryan that she was only saying it to haunt him, just like all the other people who respond to being fired by cursing him out. B) Yeah, he was lying about not remembering the woman.

** Good point. I was ''very'' nervous when Samuels raised his voice and Natalie started looking at room he was in, I thought he'd erupt. But considering the fact that the guy had an emotional breakdown and couldn't even respond (''how'' many times did Natalie say "Mr. Samuels"?), I think he was just too devastated to pay attention to subtle things like noise sources and faces in his peripheral vision. Sure, a calm and collected guy would have enough free time (mentally) to notice, but Mr. Samuel's brain is just too full of pain and anger to notice. (Although, IANA psychologist, this is just folk-psych I thought of on the spot.)

* If Alex is only seeing Ryan as an escape doesn't she worry things are getting a bit serious when Ryan invites her to his sister's wedding?

* The man (Mr. Samuels) who was fired by Natalie over the computer, but who was sitting in the room in front of her (and all of his co-workers, who were fired off-screen via the same method): wouldn't they have recognized the office behind Natalie as their own office, or, since we see Mr. Samuels walk by the glass wall separating Natalie from the office, wouldn't someone who was fired look inside and see ''the woman who fired them was in the room next to them'', and get pissed off?
