** This is fairly speculative, but it's reasonable to assume that Niko's species naturally produces phosphor similar to the shrimps in the Barrens, and thus Niko's eyes are naturally colored by yellow phosphor. This might even be connected to why Niko was chosen in the first place - someone who's a natural source of yellow phosphor could help refuel the sun during the pilgrimage.
