* FridgeBrilliance:
** After [[spoiler: X is reconstructed]], he and Teppei become more powerful than the Four Spirit Generals. At first, it looks like a common NextTierPowerUp but in Japanese mythology the Kirin has a higher place in the hierarchy compared to the Phoenix and the Dragon.
** Teppei's plan for ensuring that he doesn't run into any guards unexpectedly while fighting his way back to the BigBad's evil lair is to smash in a beeline through every single one of the security checkpoints in his way, ''deliberately''.
*** Jet'aime initially derides this strategy as pure madness as it would invite the assault of guardians from the neighboring checkpoints, until Fou thinks for a second and realizes the cleverness in Teppei's plan : he is in fact banking on the pride of the guardians to keep the fights being one-on-one affairs, thus ensuring he only has to fight some ten or so fights, instead of attempting a stealth approach and ending up taking on the full might of dozens of neighboring security checkpoint guardians. This shows Teppei is not completely a stereotypical IdiotHero.
* FridgeLogic:
** If the Machine Empire had spent a tenth of the effort they expended on coming up with countermeasures for when their various elite warriors turned against them (usually by creating another tier of elite warriors) on instead ensuring that their elite warriors didn't feel the need to turn on them in the first place, they'd have been a lot better off. Honestly, trying to feed the little sister of one your elite warriors to your pet monster? What were they thinking?
*** Somewhat justified since the Emperor is an outright sociopathic GodhoodSeeker and everyone is in their thrall.
** Aramis trying to convince Kotaro of how great and compassionate the Machine Emperor is... after abducting him and killing everyone else with poisonous gas in the process.
** The fact that no one among the higher ranked officers like the Spirit Generals figured out earlier the Empire's shtick about starting conflict to recruit war orphans and mold them in devoted servants, when it was enacted by lowly Lycaon grunt troops. Fou himself, one of the smarter ones, only noticed when he ended up fighting his childhood friend Quattro.

*** The second's somewhat justified. For one, Teppei's an IdiotHero. And the second, said checkpoints rotate in the desert to intercept attacks from any angle, so Teppei's going to have to fight them anyways. But if he charges straight at them then he can bank on the pride of the guards to keep the fights being one-on-one affairs.
