* Leslie's various actions foreshadow his faked death at the end. He acquires fireproof gel. He's seen carefully arranging the cider press that supposedly kills him. His mentor is introduced emerging from a death-like trance. A deleted scene has his mentor mention more explicitly that he's faked his own death several times, which might have been deemed too on-the-nose.
* Why does [[spoiler: Doug, the sound man and third member of the film crew make it out alive, along with Leslie's "Ahab" Doc Halloran and his Survivor Girl Taylor? It's a reward for his "You'll have to go through me", standing between Leslie and Taylor - rewarding his good deed. As for Todd - didn't Leslie choke him to death, rather than use the scythe? It's possible that Leslie only choked him unconscious to get him out the way due to his HeroicSacrifice, adding fake blood and maybe even drugging him in order to pose him in the tool shed (given Leslie's Batman level preparedness it's not inconceivable) - or if Todd is dead, it could be Leslie felt the insults Todd shouted to get his attention disqualified him from the reward of life.]]

* Why did Eugene and Jaime agree to reveal so much of their history to the mockumentary crew? [[spoiler: Because they know Leslie Vernon is going to murder the film crew.]]

* The camera crew brushes off Leslie teaching them about his planned murder spree right up until the end. Then, when Leslie actually begins his killing spree, they suddenly panic and have a breakdown. Why? They didn't realize he was serious until that point. They thought it was all a ridiculous prank.
** Or, they understood what he planned to do intellectually, but weren't prepared for it emotionally or morally. Once they actually watched him kill people right in front of them, they realized they couldn't be party to this.
** It could even be a final SecretTestOfCharacter for [[spoiler: Taylor. Naturally, his perfect Survivor Girl would be too good a person to just sit back and watch him murder several people.]]

* In ''Behind the Mask'', I always figured that the VillainProtagonist lost in the end, only to survive due to DiabolusExMachina, making him a bona fide undead slasher. However, it was only later I realized Leslie probably rigged the apple press he was "killed" in, and with the fire-proof gel, he could survive the fire. Add that to his training in playing dead... ** In a deleted scene on the DVD, Leslie's old mentor goes through how he supposedly "died" several times, including drowning and decapitation and mentioning that he survived using tricks. Its a funny scene, but was probably deleted because it foreshadowed the {{Fridge Brilliance}} too much
** He does put a lot of emphasis on the cider press without ever explaining what it's for.
*** If he did rig it, putting that much emphasis on it ahead of time was a way to make sure she tried to use it to finish him off, rather than some other method involving farm equipment.
