** John and Lori getting married didn't automatically fix their issues they had in the first movie, and they end up divorced.
** Tami Lynn’s heavy drug use causes her to no longer being able to carry a baby.
** When Ted's legal status is finally questioned, he is labelled as a non-human and basically cut off all his resources. He even gets fired from his job and his marriage is annuled. He tries to open up a court case and loses, but said case [[spoiler:gets reversed in Ted's favor at the end, subverting this trope]].
