Likely the reason they found Robotnik was due to the signal he sent out, which Knuckles detected.[[/note]] nor do they appear for the rest of the movie.

** In the first movie, Tom briefly mentions that he kept his phone off in order to make sure Robotnik couldn't use it to track them. Unfortunately, Sonic doesn't think to do the same, and sure enough Robotnik uses that follow him to where the compass is hidden.

Also, when the man they’re competing against in their dance-off takes the map, he doesn’t just zip up and take it back. [[spoiler:He also doesn’t use his Spin Attack to bust his way out of the cage G.U.N. puts him in, for some reason]].

** Putting his feat of knocking Sonic's super form aside, when Knuckles first appeared in ''VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles'', the main threat he posed was constantly tripping traps to send Sonic flying from one place to another (which even then was mostly a cutscene transition between stages), while his actual BossBattle was underwhelming. In the movie, Knuckles is a fearsome physical threat and clearly outclasses Sonic during their original fight.

* AdaptationPersonalityChange:

The Master and Chaos Emeralds are little more than a PowerSource for near-limitless energy, though it may change depending on a given entry in the series or piece of media. It is also a main source of power which keeps Knuckles's home, Angel Island, afloat in the sky. [[spoiler: The movie has the seven Emeralds ''fused'' into one Master Emerald, which turns whoever wields it into a RealityWarper. After Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds to defeat Robotnik, he scatters them across the planet, with Knuckles fixing the Master Emerald that once held them together.]]
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: Tails and Knuckles, in a way. In the games, while they are good friends, they rarely interacted with each other unless Sonic is around.
