* FemmeFataleSpy: Anya. She's Leo's mistress but seduces Harry the moment he turns up. [[spoiler:[[DoubleAgent She betrays Leo to the Soviets and Harry to Midwinter.]] Harry doesn't take it personally, but the consequences are fatal to Leo.]]

* ShootYourMate: Leo is ordered by the Brain to shoot an opposition agent who will be waiting at a rendezvous point. [[spoiler:She turns out to be his girlfriend Anya. Leo doesn't pull the trigger but reports to the Brain that he did, then sends Harry on an UriahGambit mission into Latvia so he won't tell anyone.]]

* SpyFiction: Oscillates between Stale Beer and Dirty Martini. On the one hand, the more flamboyant visuals place it closer to a Bond film from the same time period, and the the technology on display borders into light SpyFi. On the other hand, said tech, though certainly certainly advanced for the time, is far from implausible and practically quaint by today's standards. [[spoiler:The titular "Billion Dollar Brain" is a roughly on par with real signals intelligence systems that would be in use just a few years later.]]

** Palmer wakes up BuriedInAPileOfCorpses in the bathroom of a Soviet army barracks. A Soviet officer enters, stares at Palmer and removes his belt and coast. [[TheCoatsComeOff Harry takes off his own coat to fight him]], only for the officer to enter a bathroom stall. Two KGB thugs then charge into the room and grab hold of Palmer...only to clean the blood off his face and take him to Stok for a friendly drink.

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: Colonel Stok's men try to arrest Doctor Eiwort, but [[CyanidePill he breaks off a vial of poison]], [[BetterToDieThanBeKilled toasts them and drinks it]]. Stok rounds on Palmer and says, "Now it's your turn, Englishman!" only to hand him a ticket to Helsinki. Stok and Palmer both have a good laugh at this.
